About the up coming album IMAGO:
Imago means the maturity of the transformation process and that is what I intended to reflect in this album: the evolution in my singing career. This goes along with the book Divalia’s Imago; each chapter is the title of one of my songs and starts with the lyrics.
10 songs related to 10 chapters, including 4 tracks in French and 6 in English + 3 Bonus.
Patience—related to chapter 2— Dream Baby and Rainy LA Sunday—chapters 6&7— were on my first album Determination (2001) but the versions in Imago are remastered.
There are 3 tracks from my Pop-Rock phase; including Enracinee featuring Yuri Quintero.
For the last three tracks, I collaborated with producer David Bergeaud; a French genius who lives up on higher grounds, with a beautiful studio, all windows overlooking the city. Meeting him was a true blessing.
I had the idea to describe to him my desire for ethnic sounds inspired by my trips around the world. But when I looked around and saw his collection of more than 200 instruments, gathered on his own trips all over the globe.
I understood there was not such a need for words. I totally felt at home in his bohemian chic environment, flowing on the same frequency.
For Love is Ageless—related to chapter 8—I told him to think of Hong Kong, the city of contrasts between ancient and high tech. I wanted something timeless to take the listeners on a journey of love beyond limitation. I came up with the medieval melody when I wrote the lyrics but I could hear something more electronic and futuristic. This song is not only a declaration to my beloved muse, but a sincere message about my vision of
an ideal relationship. The same goes for my song Imago—related to chapter 10— that I co-wrote with my dear friend Chloe Trujillo after a conversation about the nature of our friendship.
This album is my true honest expression of where I came from and who I am now: at peace, as happy and light as a fluttering butterfly…
