Divebar

Divebar is an alt-country band out of Chicago, similar in style to The Band and Lucinda Williams. Since their formation in 2003, Divebar has built an impressive following with their crafty songwriting, rich vocal harmonies, and energetic stage presence. On March 26th, Divebar will self-release their first full-length album, titled Someone Else’s Number One.
While steeped in the alternative country tradition, Someone Else’s Number One refuses to stay stuck in one genre for too long. The Springsteen-esque romp of “Stranger” gives way to the bossa nova rhythm of “9,000 Reasons”. “Small Town” conjures up images of the proverbial harmonica-toting folk troubadour, only to lead into the lilting 1970’s California pop groove of “Say You Miss Me”.
Still, the male-female vocal counterpart and hummable melodies remain as the trademark Divebar sound. With no sign of slowing down, the band hopes to build on previous successes into 2010 and beyond.
