The Hot Takes is the brain child of Koby Geddes (guitar/vocals, Ardie Worsely (drums/vocals) and Leon Philipsen (bass). Forming just before the onset of the pandemic in 2020, the three London-based antipodeans found themselves locked inside unable to rehearse, to perform or meet each other face to face.
They decided not to rest on their laurels, working remotely to produce their first set of releases. Recording their parts entirely at home, the band enlisted the assistance of US-based producer Marc McCluskey (Weezer/Letlive/Motion City Soundtrack) to produce their debut material.
With opening single Tremors, the band has evoked the prog rock sensibilities in their hearts but anchored them in their DIY punk rock point of view, producing a soaring amalgam of huge guitars, a soaring anthemic chorus and a commentary on deteriorating mental health in the face of lockdown.
2021 saw the band perform their first sellout London show, with more material to come.
