Feeling a bit camera shy

Comprised of musicians from the VA Beach and NY areas, Divine Ratio was formed in 2000 by lead vocalist and guitarist Bryan Knispel. Bryan is a well-respected local musician whose credits include working with Soul Circle, Relief and Acoustic Sense. Augmenting Bryan's playing and writing style is bassist Scott Tipton. Scott hails from Washington D.C. and has played with Gridlock and Lachoza.
Rounding out this dynamic group is drummer James Roman a native of NJ, who has through the years played with countless musicians and bands doing session work, film tracks and touring. Guitarist Charles Gray, the newest member of the group and NY native, has co-founding credits with past bands Limbic, Fraction and Trichotomy (aka Rook).
The best way to sum up the Divine Ratio sound is to look at the band member’s individual influences. For Bryan that would be Led Zepplin, Rush, Tool, Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Buckley, and Big Wreck along with numerous Jazz and classical composers. For Scott it would be Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, Minutemen and Q.O.T.S.A. For James it would be Frank Zappa, (early Genesis) Magma, Von Zamla, and a host of obscure bands and musicians to numerous to list. And for Chuck it would be Pink Floyd, Al Dimeola, John McLaughlin, and Allan Holdsworth to name a few.

The music is intense and emotional, foreign, yet strangely familiar, rhythmic and melodic. It is derived from influences and life experiences that are evident in thier sound
