Bio

Many are called but the chosen are few and it comes as no surprise that Diz “The Icon” is amongst the group. This New York native, was born and raised in the borough of the most notable rap icons; Nas, LL Cool J, 50 Cent and, the Infamous Mobb Deep to name a few. His rap style and humble yet ferocious appearance are a nod to the greats that came before him. Still, the cadence on which he delivers each bar and the versatility of his content are like no other we’ve seen since.

Diz grew up in the 1990s, on the south side of Queens in the middle class neighborhood of Richmond Hill. As many of his associates did at that time, he became involved in the “street life”. He watched and taught himself how to earn both money and respect. In doing so, he experienced the life that would become the subject of some of his most successful songs, “Nobody” and “Born to Win”. The life sustained him for several years during which he also attended college at Monroe and the Art Institute of New York.

There are only two ways out of The Game though with one only slightly less forgiving than the other. And in 2009, less than a year after welcoming his son into the world, Diz was convicted of a felony charge and sentenced to 54 months in prison. Needless to say this was a wake up call and after completing his sentence, he redirected his energy towards being a successful entrepreneur and positive force in his son’s life.

Today, Diz is a writer, artist, actor and, radio personality. He has written both a children’s book (pending publishing) and a line of greeting cards. He has completed 2 mixtapes, “Make em Suffer” and “Make em Suffer Vol 2” with a 3rd on the way, and a 4 song EP titled 4th Quarter. He is one of the hosts of “DaCypha” on DTF Radio and has been featured in Felon Magazine with artists such as Maino.

Needless to stay that Diz’s is a story that is still being penned and given his beginnings, it is sure not to disappoint. You don’t want to miss a chapter of this epic tale so pull up a chair, get comfortable and, witness history in the making.
