Raised in a small town where Southern Gospel ruled the airwaves, Cody “Dizz” Dickerson always had a different taste of music. Raised on the sounds of Charles Johnson he quickly grew into the soulful side of Christian music. At a young age he was introduced to Jay-Z, which began his love and appreciation for the hip-hop culture. Although he loved God and went to church all of his life, he just simply thought of church as the simple Sunday routine. He was never into going to youth group until the summer of 2004 when he chose to attend youth group after hearing about some cool new things going on. A huge youth revival had recently broken out in the high school and he was curious about the move of God amongst his peers. After attending a youth night and hearing the speaker talk about change, Cody bowed his head and gave his life to God!! A few months went by and he had begun to write music. At 15 years of age he wrote his first rap song entitled “Lord’s Army”. This song was a bold call to the body of Christ to overcome the enemy. After rapping this song at his local youth group he knew that called had called him to the ministry that is Christian Rap. A year after “Lord’s Army” Cody went through an emotional trial that led him to dig deeper in God. Only 16 years old he wrote his first personal testimony entitled “Unconditional Love”. This song had several demo versions but was eventually the first and most popular single from his debut studio release in 2008 entitled “Farewell Ordinary”. Now 24 years old, his goal in life is not to see how many records he can sell, but to see how many people he can tell the good news to. He recently released his third studio album entitled “We Are Not of Night” where he enlisted the help of producer Tony Stone with production credits and featured Tony Tillman, Braille, and Karen Spurlock on tracks. His releases are on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and have been featured on local radio stations. His mindset is not to make a dollar, but to make a change.
