"DJ LORYN"

A transplant to the Bay Area scene from upstate NY, DJ Loryn loves the sound of bass. A folk singer turned digital, she was first influenced by electronic music from Detroit, Toronto Canada, and NYC in 1998. In her formative years she experimented with everything from Drum and Bass to Progressive Techno and House. Recently Loryn has been working on her own productions as well as pursuing her interests in design, art, and technology.

Based out of San Francisco since 2003 this artist’s collection is vast and growing still. Actively involved in the SF club and underground dance scene since she arrived, this tiny pistol has been setting off dance floors since the tender age of 18. Constantly influenced by many talented locals and drawing from her past experience in music, Loryn has developed and refined her own unique sound of Techno, House, and Progressive beats. Keep your eye on this hot talent as she explodes her way on up to the top.

Recently Loryn has been working on her own productions in collaboration with local Bay Area producers. Check out and download Loryn’s new music at www.beatport.com. - synphonic distrobution

LORYN // www.djloryn.com
(1998-Present)
BORN in New York / RAISED in San Francisco / LIVES in Berlin

Genres: House, Techno, Breaks, Drum & Bass
Labels: Get Up Recordings (NYC), Obskur (Vancouver, BC), Caterpillar Audio (Berlin), So French Records (Paris), Barely Legal Records (Oakland, CA)

LORYN stands out from other DJs by being versatile, nonconforming, and innovative. She not only knows how to read a crowd but also reads the energy in a space.

DJ/producer/label owner/promoter, she wears many hats and her consistent and tireless work in the music industry since 1998 has helped shape and innovate new trends and technologies in live performance and music experiences/events. She works to bridge the gap between the visual and audio creating emotional landscapes and exciting aural sensations. Adaptable, relentless, yet consistent she is raising the bar for females paving their way through the industry by holding her own ground for two decades, challenging new models with classic ideals, rock solid mixing and her own technique. Her specialty is bringing a diverse group of people together on one dance-floor.

Getting started in music as a folk-singer, Loryn frequented open mics and coffee shops in the late 90's in Upstate New York. Her first self-produced acoustic album (Rumble, Rumble) was released in 2002. She cut her teeth into production at a young age and has not looked back since. A true lover of music she combines different styles and genres often making her performances as exciting and eclectic like musical journeys or stories. She works organic sounds of jazz, classical, and voice into her live sets and productions and uses themes and concepts as the inspiration behind her many of her recordings.

Loryn is currently based out of Berlin where she runs her own record label and brand, Caterpillar Audio. She is a founding member of PRIZM:Berlin along with a tight knit crew of women working within nightlife and entertainment industry. PRIZM is a creative community and platform that organizes events monthly supporting female talent globally. These events include opportunities for women within music, art and nightlife to network, take workshops, attend panels and connect with other like-minded individuals.
