"Muzik Therapy will receive a two-day gig at Rick’s Tavern and a few hours of studio time."

FAIRFIELD — The Cincinnati-based group Muzik Therapy proved it had the right cure Thursday evening, June 24, when it won the first Cincinnati’s Next Big Band contest at Rick’s Tavern.
The group energized the packed venue with its spirited vocals and trumpet flourishes.
“It feels fantastic. I couldn’t be happier,” singer Anson Cotton said of the group’s win, as he and his bandmates celebrated amid cheers and hugs.
Steve Hacker, one of the judges of the competition, said the band’s overall level of talent and showmanship impressed everyone.
“You know how good you are when other musicians say they hate you,” Hacker said with a smile.
Muzik Therapy received a two-day gig at Rick’s, a few hours of studio time, plus personal management by Steve Minnielli, one of the owners of Rick’s.
The other bands in the competition were Skallywags of Cincinnati, TNT of Fairfield and Caffeine of Middletown and Fairfield. The other bands received gift certificates at Rick’s and will also get gigs through management by Minnielli.
Hacker said all 27 bands in the competition got the crowds going.
“We had great buy-in from everyone,” Hacker said. “I can’t wait to do it again next year.”
Adam Smith, of the band TNT had said previously, “We’re pretty much honored to get that far. Win or lose, it’s a great honor to play with people of that stature.” - Eric Robinette, Staff Writer

Not only can you watch the concert live at Fountain Square, it is also going to be broadcast live on FOX19 starting at 8:00 a.m.

Muzik Therapy is a group that has had members come and go, but the most recent group is one of the most exciting bands in the area. This group consists of Latoya Stiggers, Timothy Stiggers, Doug Spencer, D'Anna Kennedy, Anson Cotton, Ryan Springs and Ellis Lockard. The first time this particular group performed they won the Cincinnati's Next Big Band Competition. I DJ because music was my first love since the 4th grade and its my way of getting out my emotions about it. No matter what i feel that way the sound and blending of music is a pick me up. It's been engraved in me since i picked up a trombone at the School for Creative & Performing Arts. The average crowd is 24 and older. My specialty is blending... I can put songs together that will make u scream... and its done to near perfection... I understand the hard work put into production and I put the same effort into the seemless tracks I blend.
