Bio

DJ CEEPLUS & THE HOUSE OF BAD KNIVES:

DJ Ceeplus and The House of Bad Knives is a Texas music icon. He has been djing, producing, promoting, and supporting groundbreaking music in the Lone Star State for over a decade.

Rocking the music for the masses since the mid to late 80’s, he started out primarily playing underground dance, new wave, punk, industrial, electro, and old school hip hop. He then dove head first into the turntablist scene in the mid 90’s, where he acquired the skills and knowledge of the “turntable as a musical instrument” via the techniques of scratching, juggling, cutting and pasting the sounds on records.

Today, Ceeplus is known as a taste-making visionary; consistently & creatively mixing multiple genres of music. His open minded dj sets involve live editing, re-mixing, and scratching & blending the eclectic sounds of underground disco, fun hip-hop, electro, booty beats, indie rock, pop, old punk, rare groove funk-soul, and more.

As a promoter and event specialist Ceeplus has produced / promoted top notch concerts, events and parties throughout Texas via the promotion company Reprogram Music (www.ReprogramMusic.com) where he is founder and resident artist.

Ceeplus & Reprogram Music are music curator, talent booker, and resident dj for the wildly popular Starbucks Mixed Media Music Series at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (also known as The Beats of Basquiat). In February, ‘06 Ceeplus deejayed to a crowd in excess of 7300 people while opening for the legendary Grandmaster Flash at the sold out, closing exhibit of Jean-Michel Basquiat. In the past year, the MFAH music series has brought over 75,000 people to the museum to experience a unique multi-sensory event for music fans and art lovers alike. The event was been nominated as one of the Best of Events of Houston -2005 in the Houston Press (Houston weekly) and has garnered huge recognition and acclaim for the MFAH & Starbucks.

Ceeplus is host and dj on Reprogram Radio on 90.1 KPFT. The show airs bi weekly Thursday nights/Friday mornings 12:30am –3:00am. He is the top 200 CMJ Reporter for KPFT.

Ceeplus was been chosen as the Critic’s Pick for Best Dj in the Houston Press “Best of Houston” music awards in the years 2001, 2003, and 2006.
