Bio

DJ Fudge – Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh)

For the most part, DJs all get their starts the same way – typically working in someone’s basement, spreading around to the house parties and weddings, and eventually, with intense work, becoming the hometown favorite. Though DJ Fudge is no exception to that rule of thumb, he is far from the typical DJ and is exceptionally talented. He has the honors and medals to prove it.

Fudge’s quest began in 1987 in a small town in Pennsylvania. As the years passed by, he grew from basement DJ to hometown favorite, to radio personality and to promoter, balancing all these tasks perfectly. During this period he worked with such artists as Faith Evans, SWV, Ill Al Scratch, and DJ Lazy K. Soon his endeavors branched out to the university scene as well.

Now making his home in Atlanta, Georgia, the grass does not grow under Fudge’s feet. He has earned his spot as a well respected figure in the Atlanta music scene with a style of turntablism that matches his personality. A very humble and gracious man, Fudge has a subtle and unique sound that is tailor made for any event he works. From cocktail bars, to clubs, to lounges, to airwaves – if dancing isn’t your thing, your neck will feel the strain from your head bobbing to the beat all night long. It is no wonder that with this wealth of talent and ability to read his crowd, Fudge has accrued an impressive and all-embracing resume.

Having memberships to such affiliations as: Smokin’ Needles Records (headed by DJ Rasta Root and Phife – formerly of Tribe Called Quest; Second Sight Productions – a working group of DJs, MCs, label heads, and producers; the TasteMakerDJs record pool and crew; and the 5 Star Generals crew – there isn’t much of the Atlanta club or radio scene that Fudge hasn’t touched. You may have heard his grooves on 88.5 WRAS’ award winning show “The Bomb” or the instrumental hip-hop show “Hush Hush”. Being a General, he also lays claim to holding down the waves at 91.1 WREK on “The WREKroom Renaissance and other stations on various nights as well. In addition, Fudge has been a Kool Mixx DJ Battle finalist, Guitar Center DJ Battle finalist, and a TMDJs Sound Boxing DJ Battle winner.

When not floating the airwaves, he is a regular DJ for 3 Dot Productions, where he performs at the promotion company’s large-scale events such as the nationally popular Breaklanta, extravaganzas. Being so well rounded, he has no problems moving the thespian world by performing in art galleries around the city such as the Atlanta College of Art, Trinity Gallery, and the High Museum of Art. Moreover, for those who need to do more than just tap a foot or two, Fudge has you covered – in sweat. He has spun at some of Atlanta’s premiere night spots like MJQ Concourse, The Atrium, Apache Café, Leopard Lounge, and Eleven 50.

Still with a wealth of talent to show, Fudge can rock with live musicians such as Slick and Rose and Womack. He has had the opportunity to work and open for artists such as Slum Village, Joi, Fertile Ground, Psyche Origami, J-Zone, and Phife Dawg. If that still isn’t enough, Fudge has also had the pleasure of moving the crowds overseas including a stint with 5 Star Generals for the DefKut Records “Fonky” tour in Europe.

Fudge has created his own label dubbed Good Knight Records. The label has released volume 3 of the popular “Hush-Hush” series – a compilation of DJ Fudge’s instrumental collection. Having been reviewed in various release charts and in magazines, such as Import Tuner, the tradition will continue with the release of “Hush-Hush Vol. 4” and others later this year. Currently, you can catch DJ Fudge along with DJ Sky putting the crick in your neck on Wednesdays at NodFactor 2 at The 5 Spot in Atlanta.

It is not often a DJ with this much versatility and style comes along. Liken him to that of a comet: It breezes by, the wonder of it grabs you, and everyone talks about the experience for days!
