Das Tolle an den Leuten, die ins Theater gehen, ist, dass sie zu allem tanzen.
Das sagt DJ Grace Kelly, eine Berlinerin aus Brasilien, die seit Jahren bei
allen möglichen Partys in der Stadt auflegt. "Wirklich! Bei Theaterpublikum
bin ich frei, ich kann spielen, was mir am Herzen liegt."
Grace Kelly war DJ bei vielen Premierenpartys, unter anderem in den
HAU-Theatern in Kreuzberg. Warum diese Partys immer so lebendig sind,
weiß sie auch nicht genau. Vielleicht, weil Schauspieler und Tänzer sich frei
und gern bewegen. Vielleicht, weil Leute, die gerade ein mitreißendes Stück
gesehen haben, sich danach auch frei und beweglich fühlen. Grace Kelly
hofft, dass Theaterpartys auch ohne Theater funktionieren. Im Hebbel am
Ufer, dem HAU 2, wird sie heute auflegen, ohne dass es dort eine Premiere
gab.
Das Theater nimmt einen Clubabend in sein Programm. An jedem ersten
Donnerstag im Monat soll es im HAU 2 die "HAU Beats" geben, mit DJ
Grace Kelly und wechselnden Gästen. Heute ist Peaches dabei. Die
Elektropunkerin wird nicht live spielen, sondern auch als DJ auftreten. - Berliner Zeitung

DJ Grace Kelly (www.djgracekelly.com)
Lives in Berlin since 1996. She has always been fascinated by this multicultural Metropole in the middle of Europe. And here she plays the music from her afrobrasilian native country Bahia: Latin, Brasil, with influences of Drum'n'Bass and Latin-electro. In Berlin she got in touch with oriental and eastern European music, which ever since has become a part of her music-mix.
In Bahia/ Brasil Grace Kelly has always played the drums at parties and festivals. In Berlin she sings in the "Brasil Ensemble" and plays with the band: "Rainhas do Norte", as well as with "Furiosas" Berlin. These are bands, that bring the power of brazilian rhythms to Germany. On stage, they present with great joy and fun the traditional rhythms and variety of brazilian music. For example in the "Karneval der Kulturen" (www.karneval-berlin.de) in Berlin.
Grace Kelly was part of the carnival of the cultures of Berlin, from its first moment on. She was a dancer with "Afoxé Loni", the group that leads the carnival parade, out of competition. It is a real highlight of the event.
During the aftershow-parties of "Afoxé Loni", Grace Kelly started working on the decks, turntables and mixers and became a professional DJ.
In the year 2000 the topic of the annual festival "Heimatklänge" was Brazil and during this summer Grace Kelly became one of the most famous Djs of the summer 2000 in Berlin.
In 2001 she established her own permanent Party Event: "mundo mix" (www.myspace.com/mundomixberlin), the total-global-party, which travels through different big party locations in Berlin. Every second Saturday of the month mundo mix presents local and international bands and guest Djs of the world music scene. Berlin world music bands such as Nomad Soundsystem, Rotfront, Tiger HiFi have played at mundo mix. Dj Latrama (Madrid) and DJ Shotnez (New York) had their premiers in Germany with Grace Kelly on the turntables.
Mundo Mix has become an establishment within the Berlin World Groove and is supported by the local Radio Station Radio Multikulti (Berlin 96,3 www.multikulti.de).
Dj Grace Kelly has a radio show – Selektor Brasil Beats – on radio Multikulti every first Saturday of the month.
In spring 2004 she experienced an overwhelming success in her home country Bahia, when she played her tunes in Trancoso, a wonderful beach-town. She entertained the dance-crowds in bars , discos and on the beaches in a permanent row of huge fun-parties.
Also in 2004 she played in Bali – KU de ta (www.kudeta.net) and in Campeggio Girasole Udine/Italy.
This year she will perform at the Cannes Film Festival and in Morocco , Rabat (www.mawazine.ma)
Since this year Dj Grace Kelly hosts a monthly party event “Haubeats” in cooperation with the Hebbel am Ufer Theatre in Berlin. At Haubeats already performed Ceza, Peaches and Think of One. (www.hebbel-am-ufer.de)
