I'm just an easy going, music loving DJ fromToronto. I would consider myself a hip hop dj. I've also done plenty of events and played in a wide variety of clubs that I will and am very capable of, playing whatever is nescesary to get the party going and keep it rocking all night long.

Biography

DJ Grizz fell in love with music at a young age. His dad would play music on his record player every weekend, everything from MJ to Conway Twitty. He grew up in a home where music was very much a major part of everyday life. Being the youngest of seven, his musical influences date way back to the late 60's early 70's. Two of his brothers were successful DJ’s in the Toronto area, and his dad was a well known dj back in Jamaica. Its clear that music was in his blood since birth, and at age 15 it was his moment to begin a love affair with the wheels of steal. Learning from one of his brothers at the time, DJ Grizz's first mix ever would be, Destiny’s Child’s “No, No, No” mixed into Beatnuts “Watch Out Now”. "I remember the feeling of accomplishment and how good it felt to take two tracks, blend them, and create something new" he says. Shortly after that DJ Grizz (known as DJ Scratch and Sniff) started DJing at his youth group, soon after that, a few house parties in his neighborhood. Then… nothing. He stopped DJ-ing, he had to. At the age of 20 he became very ill and was in and out of hospital on a regular basis for about three years. DJ Grizz has a blood disorder called Sickle Cell Anemia, and its something he has struggled with the majority of his life. These three years were extremely hard on him. During this time he made decision to move out to Edmonton, Alberta. He made the move out west to attend Vanguard Bible College. Having grown up in a in a house where church was necessary and played a major role in his life and who he is, he felt the urge to become a youth pastor. In hopes to give back and be a positive influence in the lives of young people the same way some people had influenced his life. On approaching the end of his first year of Bible college, he suffered a stroke. He would then go on to suffer two more, one the following summer and another a year later almost to the day of the first one. During this time Grizz met DJ Loki, who was at the time one half of Digitally Screwed DJ’s. DJ Loki then introduced Grizz to the other half of Digitally Screwed, DJ Chad. They’re both experienced Edmonton DJ’s. Through meeting Chad and Loki, the DJ in Grizz wanted out. They mentored and taught Grizz the ins and outs of the DJ scene, and throughout this time DJ Grizz was born. Grizz has had opportunities to DJ for celebrities, various clubs, initiate annual social events, private parties and more. Most recently went on tour with Edmonton MC Dizzy and Bone Thugs N' Harmony, and has opened for LUNICE, Ghostface Killah, and Royce Da 5'9.
