Bio

Born Devin Alexander, DJ Devine has been around music his entire life. His father was one of the DC area’s biggest guitar player, as well as a singer. Naturally, DJ Devine picked up music at a young age. At the age of 11, he was given a drum set and that is when his true love for music began. He would eventually progress to other music endeavors like recording and engineering. At the age of 15, he recorded and mastered a friend’s demo tape. He also recorded the group Barking Crickets’ songs "Carousel" and "Groovin." Both songs received significant airplay on 93.5 WZBH station at Georgetown, Delaware.
DJ Devine always had an aspiration to entertain large crowds. Devine was always the one bringing the latest mix CDs to parties to help fuel the dance floor. He felt it was only right to make his first purchase of turntables and a mic to take these crowds to the next level. That is when “Dj Devine” was born.
DJ Devine’s candid love for Djing comes from a plethora of musical influences and inspirations. He was motivated by some of the greatest DJs such as, DJ Premier, DJ AM, Paul Oakenfold, Roc Raida, and DJ Q-bert. In DJ Devine’s own words, “I try to incorporate a little of each of those great performers into each of my sets. Music and Djing will always be a huge part of my life.”
When he is not busy Djing at gigs including frat parties, receptions, clubs, bars, and corporate events, DJ Devine is always in the studio working with other Sluggerz Entertainment artists on their projects. Currrently, DJ Devine spins in the DC metropolitan area at venues in Adams Morgan, Georgetown, and Old town Alexandria. He’s currently working on a mix CD which is going to feature club hits and mashups. The CD is tentatively set to be released in July 2009.
