When I first came to Barcelona, I fell in love with the spirit of its creative underground, a colourful and optimistic energy born from people from so many corners of the world coinciding in the same place at the same time, eager to get things off the ground for inspired and pure reasons. Much has changed since then, for better and for worse, but luckily we still have Marise Cardoso and her collaborators keeping that original spirit alive.

Marise Cardoso might be the hardest working talent in our local music and cultural scene. No, scratch that. She might be the hardest working talent on two continents as her creative endeavours take her back and forth across the Atlantic, building a bridge between her native Brazil and Barcelona, which she has called home for the past decade. Musically, Marise Cardoso, aka DJIIVA, has collaborated with bands like Macaco and Ojos FEMELEK__2010__FLYERthe Brujo as well as with her sister Amarilis Vitale in their project NSISTA. She also works tirelessly at shaking up our local cultural scene, making it richer and more innovative with every project she embarks on, from Pulgas Mix to FEMELEK.

FEMELEK is a confluence of music, new technology and avant-garde art, all produced by women artists. For the past 5 years, FEMELEK has dedicated three days to promoting the work of emerging artists, both from Barcelona and abroad, creating a network of international talent that strengthens our connections to other cities, art and music scenes. The latest edition of FEMELEK, held at the Convent Sant Agustí this coming weekend, brings us visuals by Kowalsky (UK), abstract art by Magdalain (Barcelona), live painting by Sara Mutande (Barcelona) and the enchanting voice of Miss Q, the whimsical playfulness of the Shower Sisters and dubstep with L Carma, Zeda, J.U.L.A.I., Vinilette and more! The closing party on Saturday, March 6th treats us to 25 artists with live gigs by MA (France), DJ Mohak (Berlin), Stendhal Syndrome (Berlin), Rebe (Catalunya) and many others. Held at the Centro Cívico Les Basses, the FEMELEK closing party will be the exuberant conclusion to three evenings of genuine and highly personal artistic expression. This week is about celebrating women, art and technology...and the fact that there are still people in our city who embody that extraordinarily eclectic and creative Barcelona spirit!

Well..i have to tell you guys..i am a HUGE fan of MACACO and OJOS DE BRUJO, and our next guest are two Brazilian sisters who have a sorta connection with them… well the connection is DJIIVA, who also joins her sista AMARILIS to become NSISTA

They are doing a Samba xxperience with a huge influence from Spain..THESE LADIES ARE JUST AMAZING!!

Marise Cardoso es DJIIVA, DJ brasileña que vive en Barcelona desde el año 2000. Su trabajo es un viaje musical donde la música electrónica adquiere sonoridades mas grooveras, propias del funk, del afrobeat y de las infinitas influencias rítmicas de Brasil.

Brazilian Beat y otros beats es una particular mezcla de electro break beat con funk carioca, tech house con percusiones africanas, todo ello sabor y ritmo. Su gran sensibilidad, conocimiento y diversidad musical la ha levado a tocar como Dj base en especiales Jam Sessions de electrónica + live music en la Barcelona pós 2000. Las sesiones que realiza con músicos de altísimo nivel de la ciudad condal se han convertido en un deleite para los oídos cansados de los beats lineares…son pura explosión de emociones!!
Esta mujer creativa hiper activa, arquitecto de formación, es también la directora del Pulgas Mix - Festival de Cultura en Acción – fenómeno que en 5 años de vida ha hecho saltar a Barcelona con mas de 15 ediciones (www.myspace.com/pulgasmix) y desde 2006 organiza el Festival FEMELEK - la dona y la música electrónica (www.myspace.com/festivalfemelek), entre otras producciones. Su principal característica como productora es mezclar con elegancia y innovación diversas manifestaciones artísticas – música, imágenes, danza, performance, moda y etc, siempre con una gran acogida del publico local y apoyo masivo de la prensa.

N’SISTA
Desde la primavera de 2007, Djiiva concentra sus energías en el proyecto N´SISTA, una parcería con su hermana Lili Jones.
Una propuesta 100% femenina, donde las posibilidades tecnológicas de nuestro tiempo se reencontran con la poesía y el frescor de las orígenes. Un verdadero remix de influencias donde millares de discos se mezclan con voces procesadas, improvisación jazzistica, flow hiphopero con música de ordenadores, sabor a tambores…..mil músicas reviradas, remezcladas, revisitadas … Esta es la formula para crear un viaje sonoro lleno de referencias, que suenan diferentes a cada actuación, porque los estímulos externos no paran de llegar y la música de las N´SISTA, por supuesto, no puede parar de reciclarse. Han sido seleccionadas para el proyecto Emergents + a Prop 2008, en cuyo recompilatorio ha salido su primer tema editado TUAREG. Y las hermanas siguen sorprendiendo a todos con su potente mezcla de Funk, transmitiendo la complicidad y su gran vocación musical en el trabajo vocal de N´SISTA. Autentica expresión brasileña femenina y contemporánea.

ATMOS.FERAS
El proyecto ATMOS.FERAS, con lo cual viene actuando en fiestas y festivales hace mas de cinco años es una union de talentos made in Brasil en el cual la Dj comparte escenario con el mago de los efectos y la percussion Sandro Lustosa (Macaco), musico brasileño afincado en Barcelona que imprime fuerza y vitalidad a las bases electronicas disparadas por la DJ.

AVIID
AVIID es el alias experimental de Marise Cardoso aka DJIIVA, la polifacetica DJ y productora brasileña radicada en Barcelona, directora del Pulgas Mix.
AVIID es una experiencia sonora en solitario, basada en la manipulación de sonidos sacados de sus raros discos de vinillos, mezclados con ambientaciones electrónicas, voz y teclado tocados en directo. Una muestra de lo que capaz esta mujer AVIIDA por nuevas perspectivas musicales.

NSISTA

NSISTA offer us a real mix of influences, in whitch popular Brazilian songs are allowed to be mixed and adapted with different processed voices, jazzy improvisation and sponken poetry.
This duo of brazilian sisters is formed by Marise Cardoso aka djiiva* and Lili Jones who have lived in Barcelona for 7 and 3 years, respectively.
Coming from Brasil, both are archictects and studied music from a very young age in musical schools in their country of birth.
Marise has taken in projects like Pulgas Mix - Culture in Action Festival, and Femelek, dedicated to women and electronic music.
NSISTA first performance was at the Femelek 2007, and after this the sisters became to play in several places in Spain & Europe. - Sujeto Catarsis

Back in 2000, two Brazilian sisters- Marise Cardoso aka DJIIVA and Amarilis Vitale arrived in Barcelona and were instantly blown away by the electronic music scene that was taking the city by storm.

Together they formed NSISTA, a band whose sound has been influenced by their travels around the world. Their Brazilelectro beats have evolved over the years reflecting the years of crossing borders and genres. Like stamps on their passports, their music is a unique collage of samba beats layered over lush electronic arrangements and experimental sounds cascading in the background. Their look consisting of recycled materials such as plastic bottles and bottle caps form post modern head pieces which reflects their do it your self attitude.

NSISTA Field

On this particular Sunday night - NSISTA holds center court in an old convent turned cultural center on the border of the Born neighborhood. The hipster crowd below them- can’t stop moving their heads and hips to the sambatronic beats radiating from the speakers. They stand center stage in an open courtyard, bathed in hot pink light and transmitting love for their fans.

The neighbors however, don’t seemed too amused by the weekend festival which is now on its 15th edition, was created by MARISE and aptly named PULGAS MIX. A flea market based concept, that has over taken the space with artist, musicians and fashion designers from all over spain. The goal of the festival is to share the talent in an incubated center for people to touch and hear the pulse of Barcelona’s art scene.

SUNSET

When not producing music, or organizing festivals NSISTA also lends a hand and signature sound to bands such as Macaco, Ojos de Brujo, Brazuca and Matraca that turn to the duo when looking to brazilify their sound.

DJ Click made a very dubbassy remix of it, so here it goes. Watch out for them, as they are going to play in Paris and at the Fiestas de Poble Nou in Barcelona. - Anne Haack

Irmãs brasileiras radicadas em Barcelona mostram seu som n'A Obra dia 26

Elas são brasileiras, mas estão estreando no país só agora, após quase quatro anos de existência. A dupla de irmãs Nsista mostra em Belo Horizonte seu som que passeia entre o eletrônico e o orgânico, com percussões ao vivo, dia 26 de novembro, n'A Obra.

Morando em Barcelona desde 2000, Marise Cardoso, a Djiiva, responsável pelos sons eletrônicos e Amarilis V., vocalista e instrumentista formaram o Nsista em 2006. O som bastante influênciado por música brasileira foi extremamente bem recebido no Velho Continente, onde elas passaram por inúmeras salas e festivais em países como Espanha, Alemanha, Portugal e Paris.

Esta é a primeira passagem da dupla no Brasil e BH é a segunda cidade a receber o show. Antes, as irmãs se apresentaram em Sâo Paulo, no dia 21, e depois seguem para Campinas, Brasília, Goiània e Rio de Janeiro.

A abertura da noite fica por conta do trio belorizontino The Hell's Kitchen Project. O trio dispensou a guitarra e usa apenas bateria, baixo e voz em suas músicas que misturam rock alternativo com sons dançantes. As discotecagens entre as bandas fica por conta do DJ Roger Moore.
