DJ Immersion

My name is Andrew Silverman, but my stage name is DJ Immersion. I attended the Dubspot School in New York City, and then began my business as a DJ for electronic dance music at clubs and concerts.

While in high school, I began putting my interests together and found that I really liked Dance and Electronic music. I began to work as a DJ for private parties and found that I had a talent for it. I was first into Rap music when Eminem was hitting mainstream. I was listening to him and other similar Rap artists at the time and then I discovered Breaking Benjamin. From there, I began listening to both Rap and Rock. I then started to drift away from Rap and started listening to more Alternative Metal and heavier Rock music. During that time, I also was listening to a little electronic dance music. What I always liked most about Rap was the beats. A friend told me to check out this artist named Skrillex and that’s when I discovered Dubstep. It had the beats that I liked and it had the heaviness of the Rock music I liked. From Skrillex, I started to search for similar artists and really loved what I was hearing. I then went to a Deadmau5 concert which had some opening acts of Dubstep and two weeks after that, I went to a Skrillex concert which was all Dubstep. This was a turning point for me.

I went out and bought a beginners DJ mixtrack and software and began making my own mixes. I heard about a school in New York City that specializes in DJing called Dubspot. Here I would be able to learn how to beatmatch, the proper technique to scratch, how to loop and layer, and how to add effects such as filters, delays, and reverbs. As a graduation project, the school set up a night at a club in New York City for graduating students to perform and show their skills.
I have created a fan base and sell my music mixes to the public, while making my name known and creating demand for my performances.
