Bio
Billboard Reporter and club DJ Mike Pope has called Atlanta, Georgia his home for 15 years. Having had a deep appreciation of electronic music dating back to the early 90’s, Pope's DJ career began in the 2004 after turning his music video producing background to dance music DJ. His passion and perseverance to be a part of the Atlanta nightlife scene took off after getting a shot to play at Primal Nightclub (formerly WETbar) with special guest RuPaul.
Over the last 8 years, Pope has DJ’d with international DJ’s including Tony Moran, Tracy Young, Johnny Vicious and Roland Belmares. He has also headlined packed dance floors in almost every nightclub and bar in Atlanta and held residencies at several. Pope is currently the Saturday resident at the longest standing gay dance club in Atlanta, The Heretic (www.hereticatlanta.com), where he has been serving up his high-energy sets for the last 3 years.
His involvement with local non-profits and charitable organizations was a high priority from the beginning of his career. In 2008 Pope started spinning parties for Joining Hearts, a 401-c non-profit organization that holds some of the largest fundraisers and circuit parties in the Southeast.
Out of town DJ gigs include nightclubs such as LUX Miami, Catalina Hotel, and Hotel Shelly in Miami during the 2011 and 2012 Winter Music Conferences. Marigny Dance Club and Closet Nightclub in Charlotte, NC, Rites of Spring Main Event in Birmingham, AL, and Mark Baker’s Wonder World Orlando 2010. In July of 2011 Billboard Magazine asked Mike to be a member of their dance music charting panel. This honor puts Mike in a class of a handful of DJ’s in the nation that serves on the Billboard music panel and helps chart songs on the Dance/Club Play charts. He is currently the only Billboard Reporter in the state of Georgia.
It is no wonder that DJ Mike Pope has gathered a large fan base and has secured himself as premier DJ and crowd favorite. Mike describes his style as a fusion of peak hour and high energy Top 40 vocals and has been doing more music production and remix projects. He has been a resident radio DJ of StrictlyDanceRadio.com and does mix shows for the internet radio station.
