BROOKLYN-based DJ Mursi Layne will per- form as the headline act at the opening of a new nightclub in Manama this weekend.

The Trinidad and Tobago born DJ will be the international guest performer at the open- ing of the Tempo Urban Nightclub on the first day of Eid.

She has performed under DJ Lady Slim moniker at a slew of outlets across Bahrain, including the Brazil Lounge, the Wrangler, at a Red Bull Freestyle Soccer event and the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
She has also spun at New York hot spots for brands such as Top Shop, Madewell, Adidas, Public Assembly, The Delancey, Moomia and Fat Baby at outlets, including the Kush Lounge, Stay Lounge and Leopard Lounge.

Mursi is a teaching assistant at New York’s Dubspot DJ and music production school and is simultaneously working on a mix tape of her work.
She will perform a mix of music with a focus on reggae, reggaeton and hip-hop to create a blend that she calls “cook-ups”.

The DJ will also per-form on the second day of Eid and doors open at 9pm on both nights.
Entry is BD3 for women and BD5 for men on the first night and BD1 for women and BD3 for men on the second.

The club, at Monroe Hotel, Hoora, aims to focus on an urban American music reper- toire that includes the genres of neo soul, riddim, b-more, soul glo as well as commercial music, clas-
sics, hip-hop and R&B. Peekaboo Jojo and Ooops have been named resident DJs, while local DJ Chicago Kid will per- form occasionally.

The club will also host Love for the DJs night, which will act as a plat- form for local DJs to showcase their talent.

International DJs will also perform on a monthly basis.
