When Soeren Schou (Pharfar) and Filip Nikolic (Turbotito) in 2005 under the name Djosos Krost released
their debut album ”No Sign Of Bad” it was for the time being a culmination of two of Denmark’s most busiest musicians. The internationally praised album was as well a meeting between Pharfar’s excel in Jamaican music and Nikolic’s electronic contribute.

On the album ‘No Sign of Bad’ the sound of warm dubby reggae rhythm and electronic effects are supplying each other on a joint of tracks that are completed with the vocals from a handful of the best vocalists on the national and international reggae scene.

The sound on Djosos Krost’s second album (xxxx) is with a corporation that includes a bit more, of what some will call ‘real instruments’, than there was on the debut but still with the electronic sound as a conspicuous element in the music. The album is danceable but even more so it’s listenable… a diverse yet integrated album. Reggae legends such as Horace Andy, John Holt and Johnny Clarke are featuring on the album (in dub mixes from Pharfar’s newly released album ‘Pharfar Presents a Rubadub Sunday in Copenhagen’). The two Copenhagen-based singers Jah Bobby and Tuco are giving their subscription with their respectively deep and high voices are putting good variation into the mixes, as well as they did on the debut. Finally, the new album includes a surprise: vocals from the dancehall-icon King Kong.

Even though Filip Nikolic in 2003 moved to Los Angeles and the technological possibilities would make it easy to exchange files through the Internet, the importance of recording together is very big to the two musicians. Because of that the album is a result of record-sessions in both Copenhagen and Los Angeles where the two musicians have been jamming tunes and sounds in old school manners and hereafter they have finished the tracks through transatlantic internet ping-pong. Djosos Krost’s unique sound is in extent a result of Pharfar’s and Nikolic’s very different musical backgrounds that tries to pull the project in each of their directions and end up meeting a in a place between reggae and techno; caribbean and west; black and white music.

Beside the Djosos Krost project, Pharfar and Turbotito have been some of the starters behind the popular Copenhagen based reggae club starting out in 2002; Rubadub Sundays. Furthermore they have been well represented in a long list of music projects.

Pharfar has established himself as the most important producer on the Danish reggae scene and additionally Pharfar is the producer and a third part of the biggest dancehall success on the Danish music scene ’05 and ’06, the dancehall trio Bikstok Røgsystem. He has produced the most of all of the material on the three albums from past away reggae-queen, late Natasja. As mentioned before he released the album ‘Pharfar Presents a Rubadub Sunday in Copenhagen’ last spring that contained a long list of the biggest reggae vocalists from Jamaica. Besides his long list of producer and remix requests, Pharfar plays the drums in the Riddim Force Band – the Jamaican stars’ preferred backing band when coming to play in Copenhagen. Pharfar is a premier dub’n’reggae producer, awarded at the Danish Music Award 2006 (IFPI) as ‘Producer of The Year’.

Filip Nikolic aka. Turbotito started out as the lead guitarist and keyboard player in the indie band LudoX who won the Danish championship in rock in 1994 and consisted of Jeppe Breum Laursen and Jesper Mortensen who later got together as Junior Senior. It was the Djosos Krost remix of the single ‘Move Ýour Feet’ who got star-dj François Kevorkians and Norman Cooks (Fatboy Slim) interested and helped kick-starting Junior Senior’s international career. Nikolic was the bass player on Junior Senior’s world tour.
Besides of his Djosos Krost project is playing the bass in the American rock group Ima Robot who is out with their third album and at the same time he is one half of the electronic duo Guns’n’Bombs who is on their way with their debut album on the French based label Kitsune Records.

Djosos Krost ’XXXX’ is released through Danish based Music For Dreams this summer.

Djosos Krost live set consists of 6 people on stage: with Pharfar on drums together with multi-musicians playing bass, guitar, melodic, keys and effects, supportive to the sound of the two vocalists Jah Bobby and Tuco.
