DJ Robb-O is a hip hop party rocking dj hailing from Bay Shore, New York.
Spinning records started in high school during the mid eightes and has lead from local gigs to NYC clubs such as Nells , Limelight and early Giant Step parties. His style has let him play everwhere from basement parties, college parties and huge out door events.
From the start of hip hop the dj was the back bone of the rap group and Robb was definitely one of those deejays. Coming from the era where you entertained thru the turntables and microphone... u had to know ur selection of breaks and beats. This was the start of the production career.
It was in 1994 when Robb started looking for artist to rhyme over tracks he created. His first record was released in 1995 on an independent label and recieved light rotation on Hot 97 in New York and medium rotation on BET. This led to remix work for other independent labels.
In 1998 Robb-O aka DJ Bruce Banner, moved to Atlanta to record a project and ended up staying for three years djing on the A town underground scene.
He started at the Yin Yang Cafe and parlayed into larger clubs such as Club Kaya and MJQ Concourse. He has djed shows and parties for Julie Dexter, India Aries, Donnie, Lyricist Lounge, Jamaroqui and others.
In 2000 Robb decided to head up north to Washington DC with the intent to return to New York, but God had different plans.
" I didn't have a relationship with God at the time i moved to Maryland...but the drive to play the music that was in the clubs wasn't there anymore"
Robb didn't like the music, the atmosphere, nor the attitude and found himself with gigs that he wasn't interested in doing. " I stopped deejaying and focused on making tracks for the love of the game"
Then i went to church and realized that i was failing in my walk with God. I got saved in 2003 and i thought i couldn't deejay or make tracks any more. " I completely stopped" Not knowing that God had a plan!
" Out of the blue I recved an email about the Holy Hip Hop conference in ATL"....that opened a whole new world of music that Robb never new excisted. I started meeting artist in the area and was recruited by a group named "Spittin Image". I recorded and produced two tracks on their maxi single that recvd airplay on DC's Heaven 1580 and WHUR Howard University radio.
He has djed for events at Evangel Cathedral, Ebenezer AME (African Methodist) Church in Fort Washington and Pastor Jamal Bryant's Empowerment Temple. He has also held a residency for Washington DC First Sunday events where he performed along with Jonathan Nelson, Papa San, Byron Cage and Canton Jones. In the studio he has produced and programmed shows for Christian Hangsuite radio.
So whats next for this powerhouse deejay?? "I have started Avalanche Music where my production comes out of. Currently i am recording and mixing the latest album for Govmnt Official artist... "Von Vargas". I'm mixing tracks for Toe to Toe recording artist "Ason" and is currently djing for Cross Movement recording artist "Da Truth". My goal is to continue making good music and to secure a production and or distribution situation. I can't wait to see what God has planned"
