DJ Romina

Few notable distinctions arise when considering Transylvania, Romania; one being Count Dracula, unveiling a mystical tale of a past era, and another, more contemporary one of Romina Anastasescu, Las Vegas' Transylvania-born House music deejay.

Some say that Transylvania rests upon one of earth's strongest magnetic fields, and its citizens experience extra-sensory perception. However, I remain committed to my own tale of discovery, as a truer inspiration for my musical voyage.

Romina is originally from Predeal, a bustling city in the heart of Romania. Abounding energy, charisma, and self motivation, her gregarious and intuitive nature, coupled with a resilience to study law and music secured a path destined for music business.

I studied hard in law school. After receiving my law degree at Baritiu University, my passion for music was incited. I realized that music in my life could no longer sustain itself as a mere hobby. It had to become a necessary profession.

Having bought two CDJ decks and a mixer, Romina developed suitable deejay skills to perform in intimate scaled social-hour events. She later moved to Bermuda, a cozy British island where she immersed herself in a fixed music culture day-in, day-out for seven years.

It was time for me to expand my musical horizons, and embrace a greater audience and the essence to which I aspired.

In Bermuda, Romina collaborated with other diverse deejays and musicians. Namely, DJ Smokey and Collie Buddzwho were both prominent, Reggae music artistsspiced her motivation for musical performance and seasoned her understanding of audio professionally. She adopted varied techniques in music production and a vogue image, while hosting local radio airings, performing at select club events, party cruises, and while being a steadily involved member, soon accentuated a deejay role in music film.

My journey in music bridged an important part in video and photography, something greater than what I had initially envisioned in being a deejay.

Fulfilling a deejay role and modeled figure, in the music film, Never Stop by Fiyah Marshall, sparked new attention to a closer relation to popular trends and electronic dance music for Romina. It soon became apparent that no other place in the world than Las Vegas, could funnel her growing ambitions toward becoming an impressionable deejay, both visually and technically on stage.

Las Vegas is the capital of House music now. It's become the international home to some of the biggest artists and deejays that are accelerating trends, including my top influences, Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren and Carl Cox.

Earlier this year, Romina landed a role for a scene in Calvin Harris' Thinking About You music video, filmed inside Hakkasan nightclub. She continues to embrace being a front line performer, and she also establishes herself as a behind-the-scenes wonder. Participating in music films, while working closely with her inspirational artist figure, Brandon A. Godfrey, who has enhanced her interest in re-mixing and music production, another rewarding progression is now destined to unfold.
