dj shAde is THE DJ for setting the musical vibe of your party, special event/reception fashion show or art opening.
From his humble beginnings in community radio at WMHB at Colby College in Waterville, ME, shAde has consistently and constantly strived to achieve more and more with each passing year. Past corporate events include working for Macy's in Burlington, MA and Shipyard Brewery of Portland, ME as well as Estate Properties and Ann Taylor in the greater Chicago, IL area. DJ shAde was also recently hand-picked to be the onboard "celebrity" DJ for Norwegian Cruise Lines' Jewel liner.
shAde has rocked sets all over the country from New England to Austin, TX and Chicago, IL. His style covers genres from Pop, Top-40 to House to 70s Boogie Funk, 80s Rock and 90s Hip Hop with some turntablism sprinkled throughout the mix.
He’s a perfectionist, whether performing a live set or laying down the cuts in the studio. shAde’s in it to win it... Locally, he’s entered and won battle titles in his former homebase of Portland, ME as well as appearing in DMC regional heats in Boston, MA.
Moving on from his role as the host of Portland, Maine's most successful and longrunning hip-hop open mic night at the renowned Big Easy Nightclub (Infact, the NY Times’ AHEAD section has featured this night in their publication), shAde oversaw the reinvigoration of the hip-hop scene in Portland, through his Wednesday night event known simply as SPEAK YO CLOUT!
Now shAde is calling Chicago home and has been holding down two monthly parties, including the renown BYOBeats event at Jerry's in Wicker Park. He's also had a monthly at People Lounge and performed guest sets at Empire Liquors, Swig, Cole's, Citizen Bar, Crocodile, Sub-T Lounge, Bar DeVille and more!
The long list of those with whom shAde has collaborated includes Spose and Paranoid Social Club. Artists shAde has opened for include Pete Rock, Mixmaster Mike, Jedi Mind Tricks, Mr. Lif, Immortal Technique, Maino, dj Q-Bert, Slick Rick and even Karl Denson.

Currrently, he focusses on his role as co-host (along with dj Boondocks) of Portland’s most successful and long-running hip-hop open mic night. Infact, the NY TImes’ AHEAD section has featured this night in their publication.
2007 marked the First-Annual We Push Buttons Awards Ceremony. WPB opened the polls to the public and after calculating the results, recognized shAde as the best hip-hop dj of 2007.
Not content to rest on his laurels, shAde is also the beat selector and platter wrecker for Portland’s local hip-hop heroes Labseven.
He’s also worked with Bread, Kenmor, Brzowski, Nomar Slevik, B. Ware the Siniq and others seeking his skills on the ones and twos. shAde’s table tactics have also made it on to the recordings of artists like Poverty and Paranoid Social Club.

After getting a taste for hip-hop in the mid 80s via a weekly show on a his local community radio station, shAde decided it was time to dig deeper and really got involved!
With over 15 years in the game, shAde has rocked sets all over New England. He's looking to introduce himself and his mixing abilities to new audiences.
He’s a perfectionist, whether competing in a dj battle, performing a live set or laying down the cuts in the studio.
