dj Shawna

DJ Shawna, a Milwaukee native, started her djing career in 2006. Taken under his wing and inspired by Milwaukee’s renowned turntablist Dj Rock Dee, Shawna slowly learned to understand the beauty and magic of djing. In addition to her profession in basketball, this DJ has an incredible love and passion for music. She has taken her DJ career to a variety of places; starting in Milwaukee, she found herself sharing her talent in Madison, Wisconsin; Chicago, Illinois; Tennessee, and Louisville, Kentucky. While playing professional basketball overseas in the Netherlands, Shawna was adamant in finding opportunities to DJ in Europe. She was successful and found it to not only be a life changing event but also an incredible learning experience. Upon arriving back into the United States, she worked to become well known in the Milwaukee scene. Shawna spent the summer of 2011 djing Wednesday through Sunday evenings providing entertainment for Milwaukee’s nightlife. In the industry, dj Shawna is known as a programmer. On a night when she is entertaining, you can expect her to read her crowd and play music that will keep them shaking what their momma’s gave them. When asked, Shawna will tell you that she plays anything that has a good beat except country music. Aside from giving her audience pure entertainment, dj Shawna claims, “These fingers, also create eargasms.”
Her influences range from other local DJs that continue to motivate and inspire her to keep getting better and never settle, and extend as far as worldwide, where she does her best to keep her ear to the ground on the music pulse all over the world, brining a unique experience every time she performs.
