"Amy Winehouse - Best Friends feat. DJ Snuggles (Beatbox Tribute) Video"

This is a song I originally wanted to beatbox to and put on my upcoming project, but she happened to pass away. Me & Soultools decided it would be more than right to put it out as a tribute.

"Empower U Tour Wants Youth to Realize Their Power"

In a typical conversation about community leadership, one often thinks of an older, established generation taking the helm. But what about the youth — the younger heads with fresh ideas, innocence and energy? What table are they at?
That’s where Yo! The Movement comes in. On June 17, Yo! pulled together hundreds of youth between the ages of 13 and 18 to brainstorm, talk, and share relevant issues at for its Empower U Tour. Cosponsored by the Young Women’s Empowerment Network, Inc., Urban Leadership Institute and Target, this leadership conference offered a unique opportunity for youth to network with some of the most influential pioneers and professionals in youth development.

Now a national tour with pit stops in Minneapolis and Baltimore this year (and more planned for next year), Empower U also offers a safe haven for youth.

This year’s Empower U speakers included BET’s Cousin Jeff and Source magazine contributor Rob Biko Baker... Empower U’s goal, according to Wright, is simple — getting young people to connect with one another on a positive, safe level.

To help facilitate this, in addition to the speakers, the event featured workshops led by local youth and community leaders such as Dr. Verna Price, author of The Power of People (JCAMA Publishers, Mpls., 2002), focusing on other topics such as money management, hip hop and spoken word, education, teen pregnancy and parenting, peace building and commercialism. There will also be performances by The Half Pints, C.O.R.E. (Wright is one-half of this duo), Frannie, DJ SNUGGLES, Maria Isa, Palabristas and others. - Minnesota Spokesman Recorder

"...DJ Snuggles (one of the best beatboxers you'll ever see)..." - TC Daily Planet

"Southside in the House!"

On Thursday night, one of Minneapolis’s brightest hip-hop groups, the aptly-named Illuminous 3, will celebrate the release of their long-awaited debut album Room with some of their closest friends, including Kanser, the Usual Suspects, and Toki Wright. If you’ve been to a rap show at the Dinkytowner, you’ve probably seen Ill 3 member FranzDiego.com hangin’ outside rocking fluorescent gear, a briefcase, and a boombox circa LL Cool J’s Radio slung over one shoulder.

As part of the Twin Cities supergroup The Chosen Few (which includes Träma, DJ SNUGGLES, St. Paul Slim, and Toki Wright), Illuminous 3 have garnered a REPUTATION FOR some of THE MOST ENTERTAINING SHOWS AROUND, and Thursday’s show at the 7th Street Entry (First Avenue) should not disappoint. - TC Daily Planet

"Trama and DJ Snuggles: B96 Radio Interview (with Freestyling)"

Tram and DJ SNUGGLES have done this on camera before, at Soundset 2008, and Mr. Peter Parker recorded that session too. This time, they kick it old school in a much more controlled environment, the B96 studio, and it's pretty clear they've practiced this before, even though Tram is going off the top. DJ Snuggles is a monster, too, as you'll soon see. If you haven't downloaded Trama's Mr. T ziptape yet, do so now.

"Skies Part for Pizza Luce Party"

Everything seems to go Brother Ali’s way nowadays. The Rhymesayers rap star took the stage just as lightning and wind kicked up and rain started falling at the end of Saturday’s Pizza Luce Party. “Are we gonna let the rain stop the party?” he defiantly asked. Sure enough, the storm ended as suddenly as it came, and the rest of his set was as clear-sky-happy as his ode to family life, “Fresh Air,” which he delivered right after the weather cleared. Amazingly, the short storm didn’t seem to turn anybody away. The crowd bulged and bruised as an estimated 5,000 people crammed the side street off Lyndale Ave – the most I’ve ever seen at a Luce Block Party, or any such street fest of recent memory. LBP host Ian Rans fittingly introduced Ali as “not just the headliner of this Block Party, but the headliner for every one of these we’ve done.” A few things stood out from other recent Ali sets. For starters, instead of his longtime sidekick BK-One, he was backed by DJ SNUGGLES. He threw in new lines in “Uncle Sam Goddamn” about the current immigration frenzy and how he “should’ve called this Arizona Goddamn.” Ali also sported his new billygoat-style beard, prompting him to describe himself as “like a cross between Santa Claus and the Kentucky Fried Chicken man.” - Star Tribune

"The Big Gigs for the Week of 07/06/12"

Minneapolis rapper Sean Anonymous of the Wide Eyes crew should have plenty more name recognition following the string of events surrounding the release of his debut solo EP, "Anonymo." He's part of this week's Warped Tour lineups in St. Louis, Kansas City and Shakopee, and in between those dates he's throwing a two-night album-release party. Backed by Cincinnati beatmaker DJ Corbett (Bun B, Saigon), Sean delivers a strong batch of slow-grooving, weedy, wry jams, including the highlight "No BS," featuring guest verses by Rhymesayers mainstays Blueprint and Abstract Rude. The first night will feature Sean with the whole Wide Eyes crew and openers Illuminous 3 and DJ Snuggles. He will then be backed by improv rockers Dream Crusher on Night 2, with the Unknown Prophets, Duenday and others opening. (10 p.m. Fri.-Sat., Nomad World Pub., 21 & older, $5-$7.) "The Big Gigs for the Week of 12/30/10"

Fresh off a trip to Mecca -- literally! -- Rhymesayers hip-hop star Brother Ali is doing his part to make the world a better place, and in this case it's a piece of it that he knows well: He's heading up a fundraiser for the music program at his alma mater, Robbinsdale High School, co-organized by the music-education do-gooders behind the "Minnesota Beatle Project" albums, Vega Productions. Also performing are Kanser's live-band offshoot More Than Lights, Dada Trash Collage, the Hood Internet and Ali's cohort DJ SNUGGLES.
(8 p.m. Fri., Marriott City Center, 30 S. 7th St., Mpls. 18 & older. $30, VIP $150. VegaProductions.org.) (C.R.) - Star Tribune

"Not the Same Old Song (Jam Party)"

Dan Sullivan believes there is life after Guitar Hero.

Slowing sales recently led the blockbuster franchise's publisher to retire the game, which let players rock out to their favorite bands on a toy guitar.

But Sullivan, founder of Minneapolis-based gaming business Zivix, hopes to ride the waves of Guitar Hero's earlier success, taking advantage of the millions of plastic guitar controllers left behind for his own game, JamParty.

Unlike Guitar Hero, JamParty lets players create their own music by pressing different buttons on a computer keyboard, Guitar Hero or Rock Band controller or through a specialized electric guitar. The game features more than 40 tracks by artists such as Minnesota's own St. Paul Slim and DJ Snuggles.

DJ Snuggles: A World-Class Act

DJ Snuggles is a world-class beatbox artist and vocal percussionist known for explosive sounds & extravagant performances. He is "battle tested" as a competitor, sought-after as a collaborator, and successful as an internationally touring live performer.

The Snuggles' Origin Story
James "DJ Snuggles" Logan was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he started beatboxing when he was only 10 years old. He got his first break as a professional performer by winning the Minneapolis / St. Paul "Citywide Talent Show" at his own school, Edison High in Northeast Minneapolis. Shortly after that victory he became a fixture on the independent Hip-Hop scene where he quickly established relationships with the best and brightest up-and-coming Hip-Hop acts from the Midwest.

Battle Tested Competitor
In Snuggles' hometown of Minneapolis, competitive battles have historically been a popular way for developing Hip-Hop acts to "pay their dues" and make a name for themselves. Except that in Snuggles' case, his extraordinary gifts pushed him to the front of the line, and established him as one of the best performers of any genre in the Twin Cities. This is because when he competed in talent shows and Beatbox battles, he rarely, if ever lost. Snuggles won almost every beatbox battle he entered and quickly became a fan favorite. This was never more evident than the night he won the Minnesota State Fair's Amateur Talent Show Competition in front of 8,000 screaming fans at the Grandstand, the MN State Fairground’s largest venue, known for its history-making live music performances. In the years prior, during, and after the State Fair, he took home the championship trophy for winning the Twin Cities Celebration of Hip Hop's Beatbox Battle (three years in a row: 2004, 2005, and 2006). After going undefeated in the Midwest for three straight years, he decided to he needed a new challenge and set out to take his battle game to the next level. In 2006, at the young age of 18, DJ Snuggles traveled to Cincinnati, Ohio where he took his first shot at the world title and won Scribble Jam’s Beatbox Battle on his very first attempt. After defeating Tom Thumb of Australia in the final round, Snuggles was crowned World Champion and instantly became recognizable to Hip-Hop fans around the globe as one of the best beatboxers to ever touch the mic.

Sought-After Collaborator
His welcoming personality, charm, and star quality make Snuggles a sought after collaborator. In addition to being a performing artist, DJ Snuggles is also a songwriter, producer, and musician. He has worked with Grammy winning producer Rahki (Eminem/Talib Kweli/Evidence/Currensy/MI:4 Trailer) on several tracks and was also recently featured in a video game called Jam Party that was produced by Minneapolis-based video game production house ZiViX. With his versatile vocal abilities, ability to do impersonations, and skills as a voice actor, Snuggles is developing a multidisciplinary approach to establishing his career as a creative professional.

Commercially Viable Live Performer
It's difficult to convey what a DJ Snuggles performance is like to experience in person, but the word "visceral" comes close. You can get a glimpse of his work when you watch his videos on YouTube, but when it comes to Snuggles, even more so than the average performer, it is highly recommended that you see him in person. Once you do, you will immediately understand why he is so sought-after to perform alongside world-class artists. We are aware the term "world-class" sounds like a cliche, but in Snuggles' case, it is the literal truth. Snuggles has accompanied Brother Ali (Rhymesayers/Warner Bros.) on tour several times in both the continental United States as well as overseas on Ali's European tour. While traveling across Europe, fans in almost every country took out their cameras, filmed the portion of Brother Ali's set where Snuggles appeared, and then posted those clips online. You can see some of these videos (Finland, England, Switzerland, Netherlands, Denmark, and more) at http://goo.gl/mXoVL.
When he’s not on the road, Snuggles keeps busy by performing at national conferences (PeaceJam, NYLC, etc), youth events (youthrive: LIVE!), making appearances at corporate events, and occasionally booking private parties. In addition to his aforementioned experiences with acts like Brother Ali, he has also shared the stage with well known indie stars like Atmosphere (Rhymesayers), Murs (DefJux/EMI), and Binary Star (Fat Beats), as well as international superstars Gym Class Heroes, Naughty By Nature, Clipse, Jean Grae, Cee-Lo Green (Gnalrls Barkley/Goodie Mob), MC Lyte, and Rahzel.

Accomplishments and Accolades
DJ Snuggles has accomplished much at a very young age. He earned his stellar reputation by winning over culturally diverse audiences of all ages every time he sets foot on stage. He has received critical accolades and acknowledgement from
