Dj Swerv was exposed to house music at an early age. When he was in 7th grade he listened to a Dj Caffeine mix-tape and immediately feel in love with the intoxicating sounds of house music. A lot of his friends at the time didn't understand his obsession with this type of music but he knew that one day they would. Dj's such as Tiesto, ATB, Caffeine and Paul Van Dyke were some of his earliest influences. As he grew older he started listening to other types of electronic music such as electro, progressive house, tech-house and even euro and trance, but no matter what the genre was he loved it all. He had experimented with turntables and mixing music while he was in high school but it wasn't until 2008 when he got the opportunity to DJ at a local bar at Eastern Illinois University that his DJ career finally took off. At first he used a program on his computer to mix songs but he knew that in order to be a true Dj he needed a set of turntables and a mixer. He finally bought his first set of turntables and a mixer and one of his good friends from High School and another local Chicago Dj (DJ Tsunami) took Swerv under his wing and showed him the fundamentals of turntablism, from there Swerv took off. He spent countless hours perfecting his blends, transitions, scratching and mixing abilities. His hard work paid off as he became a resident DJ at Mothers Night Club and Stu's Night club at EIU for 2 years, playing on avergae 3-4 nights a week. He was the DJ of choice for all the sorority and fraternity functions and at any party that needed a DJ. Now that he is back in Chicago he has played at a number of Clubs Downtown including: Bon V, NV Penthouse, Ontourage, Level, 8fifty8, as well as Antipastos and NOVA Lounge in Addison. Over the last 3 years DJ Swerv's skills as a DJ have advance at an extraordinary rate, many times people who hear him play can't believe that he's only been djing for 3 years but this is just the beginning, he's improving everyday and the sky is the limit.
