Bio
Djuna began in the summer of 2007. The motivation was to create sensible pop songs that further provoked the listener - a concept deemed "candy-coated content".
Their sound frequently demonstrates a relationship of human and machine - involving a drum sequencer that quarrells and complies with very human music; Ballads that sail but are threatened by collapse or explosion - sugary anthems enhanced with intellect...
Rhythms are precise and connected to solid low-end, guitars range from provocative to atmospheric, vocals chase themselves and overlap with sensible melodies and meaningful content - and the sound is further sophisticated by compelling violin. These elements, paired with each members' experience and dynamic personality - give Djuna a very moving yet unpretentious sound and live experience.
Influences vary harmoniously as much as personalities in the band do. These influences include the Cure, Pinback, The Velvet Teen, Imogen Heap, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, and Bjork.
