"Glover to perform at Marlow Relay For Life ‘lady’ pageant » Local News » The Duncan Banner"

Cancer Benefit Show - Derick Miller, The Duncan Banner

"Austin Group to Perform at Dude Pageant"

With 13 men vying for the crown in the Dude Looks Like a Lady pageant, it could be enough to see such talent for a five-dollar ticket.
At this year’s second annual event, Austin, Tex., musical group Dn’A, will also treat the audience to a special guest performance.
The pageant is a Relay for Life fundraiser for the team from Indian Territory Home Health and Hospice, and is scheduled for Apr. 30, at 7 p.m., at the Marlow High School auditorium.
Dn’A is a husband and wife duo comprised of Donnie Herrera and Ashley Glover. Herrera is a native of Albuquerque, New Mex., while Glover was raised in Marlow, and is the daughter of Danny and Risa Glover.
“The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease,” Glover said about performing in the event. “It represents hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated.”
Glover began singing at the age of three, starting along side her father’s bluegrass gospel band. She was five when she hit the stage for the first time, singing at a church in Bray.
Music continued to be part of Glover’s life, gaining several accolades and honors throughout her high school career, and eventually studying vocal performance at Texas State University and the University of Texas-San Antonio.
Herrera is a self-taught guitarist, and has been playing and writing songs since he was 15. He was inspired to write symphony-style pieces based on his favorite heavy-metal bands like Led Zepplin and Metallica, and co-founded a rock band that played in and around the Albuquerque area for seven years, and even opened for Stevie Nicks.
The duo began writing songs together, and after just six weeks they had written seven tunes.
The couple has a new acoustic album “Heading Home,” which many songs were written about her grandfathers, S.P. Glover and Wayne Merideth, and Marlow, Ashley said.

The Dude Looks Like a Lady pageant features a three-tier competition, which will raise money for the American Cancer Society.
The men competing are local funeral director Robert Newman, elementary assistant principal John Smith, Central High superintendent Bennie Newton, FBC youth pastor Jeremy Witt, Central High principal Mark Perry, letter carrier Clay Nichols, Marlow superintendent George Coffman, Mark Hayes, Kris Strong, Chad and Tom Travis, Bob Hill, and last year’s winner Chris Shelby.

"SESAC"

“Beautiful music...what a voice!” - Linda Lorence, Vice President, SESAC

"Same Sky Productions, Inc"

In today's landscape of tremendous over production, it's refreshing to hear something pure.... And that's what "Headin' Home" by Dn'A is.... Pure. The album consists of country-folk songs that are direct and intimate.

Beautifully produced and mastered by Austin's great Mark Hallman, the acoustic guitar sparkles and the vocals feel like they are right in the same comfy, warm room with you...

My suggestion is to dim the lights, set up some candles and really get to know this Authentic, Austin, Country, Folk band and their no frills song writing.... You will not be disappointed if you are looking for something real and true....And isn't that what we are really looking for in music, especially today….Truth. - Andre Cantave, Producer/Engineer at Same Sky Productions, Inc., DJ at Same Sky Radio, Music critic a

Bio

Dn'A is a refreshing new sound to the world of singer songwriters. The music is characterized by Donnie’s distinctive guitar work and Ashley’s deeply personal lyrics, signature velvety tone and dynamic powerhouse voice. Their sound is a unique blend of rock, blues, country and folk coupled with only an acoustic guitarist and vocalist.

The power and majesty of their live performance brings the music to life. Their live energy takes the audience on an unexpected emotional journey and reaches deep into the heart and soul of the listener. Donnie and Ashley are an acoustic duo with two different musical backgrounds that have created a magical fusion.

Ashley grew up in Oklahoma singing along side her father’s bluegrass gospel band, beginning at the early age of four. Her taste for performing inspired her to continue her musical training as a Vocal Performance Major in college. She received numerous awards and placed first chair in the 1997 Texas All State Choir.

Raised in New Mexico, Donnie discovered his love of the guitar at an early age. It was during this time that music became the driving force in his life. After learning only a few chords he instantly began writing his own music. By age 20 he co-founded the rock band “Reason” and performed locally for eight years, opening for Stevie Nicks at the Journal Pavilion in 2001.

In search for fresh opportunities, the duo have recently put their musical backgrounds together and completed their debut acoustic album Headin’ Home. It is an emotional and powerful collaboration of strong melodic songs that uniquely signify Dn'A
