"DNAtheG Teenager on Drugs Feature"

DNA's track "Teenager on Drugs" comes off his debut EP "The Code" which released this September in the digital realm available on iTunes and Amazon for purchase. Since releasing the EP, DNA has been featured on countless music blogs including HotNewHipHop.com and The Boston Music Journal, but more for his song "One Reason" than for this hidden gem. "Teenager on Drugs" details DNA's work with throwaway students in the city of Austin and their struggles to avoid the vicious cycle of poverty, abuse (in all its forms), and gang-life. The music video, which DNA believes will blow people away in its sincerity and visual acuity, is currently being filmed in the ATX.

"HeatSeekers Edition 31 - DNAtheG"

Why We Like DNaTheG:

Although he's relatively new to the game, Boston's DNaTheG is already showing strong promise, with a great ear for instrumentals, socially conscious lyricism and a crew of equally talented collaborators. His new track, "One Reason", which samples Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason", is as catchy as it infectious. Keep an eye on this one.

Artist Bio:

DNAtheG is a Boston hip-hop artist currently living in Austin, Texas. He released his debut EP "The Code" on September 13th (available on iTunes and Spotify), which features hot new beats by producers Ruler Why, Robie Rowland, and Nosey Beats. His song "One Reason" (ft. Bizzurke, Joe Gallant, and PK) is taking off in the digital sphere and is quickly gaining him and everyone involved with the project recognition throughout the country. DNA has tracks for everyone, but sees himself as a socially aware rapper who can make that awareness accessible for all. His song "Teenager on Drugs" is his favorite song so far, so once you finish looping "One Reason" make sure you check out the rest of tracks. He isn't sanctimonious, he just tells it like he sees it. Look for DNA in venues throughout Central Texas and beyond in the coming year!

Bio

DNAtheG grew up in Dorchester, MA and began writing lyrics for as a teenager as an emotional and creative outlet. He grew up listening to Eminem, Jay-Z, and Nelly while also enjoying other genres of music, especially Motown and Michael Jackson. Also an avid NBA fan, DNA grew up idolizing Allen Iverson, the player most representative of the baller/Hiphop fusion, so he always enjoyed how the two cultures merged into a dominant force. Yet DNA never saw Hiphop as a potential career until graduating from Boston College when he experienced a quarter-life crisis, unsure of his next step post graduation. After a volatile and messy relationship left him utterly confused by the life's vicissitudes, he turned back to music and spent the next year developing his skills as an aspiring MC and lyricist. Now 20 months into his passion, DNA released his first EP entitled "The Code" this September, combining with former student "Bizzurke" and long-time friends "Raquel" (of Herban Warfare), "PK," and Joe Gallant to make what has been a successful debut project. He has been featured on numerous hip-hop and music blogs, especially for the hit single "One Reason," and has booked dozens of shows since its release. On this EP, DNA and producers "Ruler Why" (Ruler Why Recordings) and Robie Rowland (Echo Studios) combine elements of multiple musical genres to create a unique and sonically pleasing album. You will find samples of Chicago, The Beach Boys, Dion, and Tracy Chapman used in ways as never previously conceived. DNA will release his first LP, "Here Cometh The Dreamer," featuring instrumentals from producers from Austin to Sweden, sometime next year.
