Bio

Doc Zootz is an emcee, beat smith and engineer. Overall, he is a well rounded artist and a comprehensive Hip Hop advocate. The essence of the culture along with real life experience are the catalyst for his words through rhymes.
Zootz has been rhyming for thirteen years knowing longevity is key in the music business. "I'll be doing this when I'm eighty years old regardless of fame or fortune. I do this for the love of music," he says.

He was hooked on Hip Hop music noting Slick Rick, WuTang Clan, Non Phixion and the Arsonists as a few of his early influences. He then started at the age of fifteen freestyling with local kids from his neighborhood in Staten Island. This led to his first crew throwdown with the Freakshow, who were known on Staten Island for their guerilla tactics with a strength and influence through their numbers.

In 2007, Doc Zootz, along with Billy Ballantine, launched Homegrown Entertainment which sparked a buzz online. Homegrown gained respect on a worldly level, reaching countries such as France, Switzerland and Germany, and opened doors of opportunity and planted deep roots that still exist to this day.
Since the launch of his career, he has opened for artists such as Jedi Mind Tricks, C-Rayz Walz, Tame One, 9th Prince, William Cooper, Joell Ortiz, PH aka Pumpkin Head, Mic Geronimo, Shyheim, Jesse West, JoJo Pelligrino and Block McCloud from A.O.T.P.

Doc Zootz captures listeners with ear-catching lyricism and contrasting flow in comparison to the simplistic approach of today's "commercial" Hip Hop.
"Hip Hop is not about commercial or underground. It's about real life music not fabricated nonsense being fed to the public by mass media," he says.

Doc Zootz crafts classics that resonate in the minds of all listeners. He continues to spend countless hours in the studio creating fresh beats and rhymes constantly perfecting his art.

Doc Zootz is currently working on his next release, "Can't Stop the Madness," which is set to release in January of 2013.
