Dogbird is a studio band. Margaret Howard wrote and produced all the songs in the catalog. Her music is infused with the sensibility of a woman who read music before reading words, spent most of her childhood immersed in classical music and her own interior life. Her songs are imaginative and bare. They frighten some people, though there is nothing overtly "scary" about them. Many of her songs would be perfect as soundtrack set pieces. Influences are difficult to incorporate in a description of the dogbird project, as this music is really, truly original. It is not, however, far-fetched or new age. Forced to describe through influences, Margaret would say there's an element of Ricki Lee Jones meets latter Rent Reznor meets Portishead meets Yo Yo Ma.
