Bio

Doll Parts is an original rock band from San Francisco, California that exists to create kick-ass music from a girl’s point of view. The sound veers from anthemic punk to ballads to blistering rock and roll, all with a late 90s/early 2000’s feel and a message of non-mopey girl power. The main lineup of bassist/songwriter Kalena and guitarist Eric Kinney Jr., along with on-loan vocalist Razz, share a love of mosh pits, crowd surfing, music festivals, and killer drinking songs. “I'm so tired of the chick rock cliches,” Kalena said, “There's a stereotype that female bands are either sad and lonely and pining for some dude or angry and ready to fight the world. I just want to have fun, tackle some tough issues, and do it all with sass and swagger.”

Doll Parts draws influence from artists like Joan Jett, Sum 41, The Pretty Reckless, Godsmack, Hole, Dresden Dolls, New Found Glory, and Flyleaf, but has crafted a strong rock sound of its own that will be in full effect on its upcoming debut album. Kalena’s songs show her to be a true believer in the power of rock music. She loves the process of writing and performing and is constantly putting riffs and hooks together. She first met vocalist Razz in the shower on a college ski trip (long story) and they’ve been best friends and musical partners ever since. A decade and a few projects later, Doll Parts came to life and now promises to become something great for everyone involved.

Doll Parts blends riot grrrl attitude, musical skill, and compelling songs into a fresh, fun take on rock and roll that’s the sonic equivalent of that friend who calls late to say “Get dressed, we’re going on an adventure,” the one who gets it, loves you, and is always down to ride. The band has what it takes to break out worldwide with its first album and industry insiders are eager to hear it. Doll Parts is a life-affirming blast of girl power and stage smarts and belongs on the radar of anyone interested in where the scene’s next dose of brilliant rock music is going to emerge. Hint: it’s right here!
