I could've hired someone to write this bio. I could've had someone dig deep into my life experiences and find some little anecdote to make you laugh. Hell, I could've written about myself in the third person, but no. That would have been self-important or cost money, or both. This is about the music I make. This is about entering the mind behind that big, white-boy fro you see before you. This is about you and me, baby.
You're probably wondering what this pretentious hipster-looking kid has to offer you. Well, the answer to that is, potentially nothing. That's for you to decide by listening to one of my songs. Though to really know me, one song isn't gonna cut it. My music ranges from hushed folk ballads like "Here They Come" and "Doomsday Lover" to noisy garage rock like "The Lights Were Off" and tons in between. Some call that a lack of cohesiveness; I do too.
Still, I take the process of writing and producing songs very seriously. I guess you could say, or I could say for you, that they are basically the driving force of my existence. I come from very musical parents and was classically trained in multiple instruments from a young age. What drives me most to write, however, is the inspiration I get from other artists. Listening to Nick Drake's record "Pink Moon" for the first time nearly moved me to tears and encouraged me to experiment with the guitar in ways I'd never imagined before. Groups like The Strokes taught me the power of energy, the words of Ian Curtis and Morrissey have given my own words shape, and I thought of My Bloody Valentine's lush textures when I wrote my song "Tell Me." Despite all these influences, my writing is instinctual; it's a spontaneous craving.
My live shows consist of full-speed-ahead, energizing full band indie rock with a little quiet number here and there. Through my shows I try to entertain the crowd and myself at the same time. No matter the place or time, I'll put on a show.
