I found out about Dominique Star about a week before I went go see James in concert. There was no question this stunning cover was going to make the Top 50. Bio
Dominique Star sounds like a Lisa Frank notebook that's been left out in the rain. Equal parts dark pop and soul, her music shines with a gritty undercurrent. She's spent the last year honing her skills with her band in Brooklyn, where they have played various venues in the Lower East Side and Brooklyn (Bowery Electric, Pianos, Ella Lounge, the PaperBox, Pete's Candy Store). She just finished a residency at Pianos in February. Influences include St. Vincent, Fiona Apple, LCD Soundsystem, Vampire Weekend, the Strokes.
