Donah Hunter Wins Songwriter101.com Gibson Guitar Giveaway
Queens, NY singer/songwriter Donah Hunter is the winner of the Songwriter101.com Gibson Guitar Giveaway contest. Donah's name was chosen randomly from over 3150 entries by entertainment attorney and Songwriter101.com faculty member Joe Serling (Moby, Maroon5) at the Gibson showroom in New York City. The young R&B/soul singer took home a Gibson Songwriter Deluxe acoustic/electric guitar worth over $2,300.
Co-sponsored by BMI, Gibson Guitars, Performing Songwriter magazine, Live365.com and Baldwin Pianos, Songwriter101.com focuses on the business side of songwriting. The site is specifically geared toward the young songwriter looking to launch a professional career, and offers a wealth of information, education, and the collective knowledge and experience of some of the music industry's top experts who serve as members of the faculty.

There are few young singers from today’s R&B and its ever changing categorization due to lyrical content and delivery that possess the strength and soul fullness of Donah Hunter . This New York based vocalist’s styling and writing places her in a niche all her own. She plays the keys, drums and is teaching herself guitar . She draws you into emotion with indescribable feeling . Drawing on a wealth of influences from jazz , hip hop, and gospel . Donah has nurtured a concept of individuality and spirituality that challenges the face of rhythm and blues/soul music .Her vocal expression is based on her exposure to a varied diverse collection of music dating back to Ella Fitzgerald , Aretha Franklin , Marvin Gaye ,Whitney Houston , Stevie Wonder and Sade to name just a few .
Poetry also nurtured her love of storytelling songwriting and musical expression. Although she grew up in a tragically broken home , the foundation was strengthened by her unfounded wisdom and determination .
Performances at venues such as the Soul Café , B Smith’s ,The 5 Spot , Nell’s ,Downtime, The Cutting Room ,Ashford & Simpson’s Sugar Bar ,live band assisted performances through out the metropolitan area,, opening act for the Manhattans/Intruders at Riverbank Stadium as well as opening for Tamia at the Mango Festival in Deerfield Beach, Florida. She has received an honorable mention in the John Lennon Songwriting contest.Winner of Songwriter101 contest. Nominated Best Female R&B Artist for the Urban Threshold Underground Music Awards. Collaborations with numerous up and coming hip hop and r&b artists and producers ,local public television shows, internet radio , local radio shows such as 91.9 promo radio .Featured tracks on the Purple City Mix Tape as well as the soundtrack for City College 9 movie . Websites such as Sound Click ,Wegotnext , Musichypeonline.com voted Best Female R&B artist , Iuma.com where she has placed on the top artist spot. . Her basic goal is to convey a message of hope, love, faith, pain and perseverance through her music as well as many other aspects that embodies Donah Hunter .
