Bio

Don Boivin is a “Hard Working Man” who is singing his life. Raised in a large family in southeastern Massachusetts (he has seven brothers and sisters), son of a union carpenter, Don spent the first couple decades of his adult life following in the family footsteps – as husband, father, homeowner, and carpenter. Though the music was always inside (as a child, his siblings finally gave up trying to get him to stop humming), it was only after a less-than-amicable divorce caused the walls of convention to come crashing down that the music truly began to escape. A four month road trip around the USA helped to spread the wings of this songwriter-to-be.
“I am currently writing my one hundredth song. My last song was a sad and poignant one called “You’ve Got To Let Them Know” about the fragility of life and the importance of being there for a friend in need – so now I’m writing a more upbeat, kind of funny song about a spiteful woman who seeks vengeance on her ex-lover by stealing all his stuff (this really happened to me!)”
Don's debut album has just been released. Sensitive, thoughtful, intelligent lyrics sung in a rich, vibrant, heart-tugging voice (often compared to Cat Stevens), accompanied only by six-string guitar, "Songwriter" is one of those raw and simple first recordings that is destined to become and remain a fan favorite.
The eleven songs on "Songwriter" are not just about love and heartbreak - a war veteran named Ainsley walks the streets (“What’s The Matter With Ainsley” recently placed in the American Songwriter Magazine Lyric Contest and is currently in the top 200 on Neil Young’s “Living With War” website), a businessman rides the commuter rail to “success”, another wonders if he wouldn’t be happier somewhere else. “Watch The Flowers Grow” is about a nine-to-fiver who has found peace on his day off, and “Outta Luck” is what you are if you “ain’t got jack”.
From foot-tappingly funny to heartbreakingly poignant, "Songwriter" looks like the beginning of a fruitful second career for a guy who’s been there, knows how it feels, and has the ability to put it all in a song that somehow makes you feel a little better about it. Don Boivin is a real guy singing real songs about real life.
Don has been performing live about 3 or 4 times a month with his fiance, Jennifer Stratton, who is also a singer/songwriter.
