Don's first CD titled Songs from the Coastline/Safe Harbour is a wonderful collection of songs inspired by his Northern roots. His experience as a fishing and wilderness guide is reflected in his songwriting.This album contains sixteen original songs written and performed by this artist. Northern Highway (release date April 26/2006)
The last link of the Trans-Canada Highway was finally opened in 1960 making Canada accessible by road from coast to coast for the first time.
Highway 17 North from Sault Ste. Marie to Wawa proved to be the most difficult and costly to complete. The section of highway between Montreal River and Wawa was said to have cost a million dollars a mile.
This part of the Trans-Canada Highway became a very popular tourist route featuring the incredible Lake Superior Coastline as a backdrop. It was traveled (and still is) by people from all over the world and from all walks of life.
This highway has inspired many artists to write songs and poetry, and to photograph and paint the landscape.
"...I decided to write a collection of songs that reflects some of this northern highway’s history"...
The story begins in Agawa Bay and ends near Thunder Bay with a song dedicated to the memory of a great Canadian folk hero, Terry Fox, who left us with a million dreams…

New CD for 2007 "Gitche Gumee/Songs From the Lake"
Don has released a new CD which features eight of his most requested Big Lake tunes and six new new songs.
His Summer of 98' (Bear Song) has been featured on the CBC Morning Show in Sudbury Ontario. All of Don's music has been accepted in the music libraries of CBC Radio.

Bio
Don Charbonneau is a singer/songwriter who lives on the North shore of Lake Superior in the small Northern Ontario town of Wawa. His work as a wilderness and fishing guide and his reverence of nature are reflected in his song writing and music.
He has played many “great campfire and kitchen table” concerts in his career and under the coaxing of fans, friends and family decided to start recording his songs.
In 2004 his first album “Songs From the Coastline” was released and quickly sold out and 2005” Wildwood/Through Tom’s Eyes” was created - this album celebrates the life of the great Canadian wildnerness landscape artist Tom Thomson. His “Northern Highway” CD was released in May of 2006.
His new albumfor 2007 " Gitche Gumee~Songs From the Lake" is now available to order on his website www.doncharbonneau.com
Don prefers the small concert venues and house concerts. This summer he his returning to Whitefish and Manitowick Lake where he will working as a fishing guide and continuing the “campfire concert series.”
