Bio

The great GOD that formed all things moves the hearts and souls of nations to believe in HIS works as they manifest through HIS anointing. As most move through everyday life never receiving HIS full glory, there are chosen few that become clay in HIS hands. HE pushes them to be better and pulls them closer to HIS side, changing their form and structure. This describes Marcus Bailey aka "Don Clay". Don Clay was raised in the Hunters Point projects where survival was an everyday reality. The son of a preacher, he some how felt growing up he needed to shake that stigma of being a "pk" and began living on the wrong side of the law. As GOD would have it Don Clay would later find refuge in his creativity in music as both an artist and producer. He escaped the streets of Hunters Point and moved for a brief while to Germany where he performed as part of secular rap group called, "Classified". Don Clay's talent began to open doors for him in Germany performing at local venues but the GOD that formed him had more in store. After a brief stint in Germany he would return to the states with a new attitude and a sense that GOD had a calling on his life to make a difference through rap music. The seed that was planted in him from his christian up bringing would soon began to blossom when he decided to begin doing what he would call "GOD rap". Unaware that there was already an underground movement of christian mc's who were making music for the LORD he began changing his rap style and lyrics to reflect his faith and view of life. The path that Don Clay was now on would lead him to meet Easop who had started an independent gospel rap label called "Life or Death Records in 1997. Their paths would first cross when Easop was ministering at his dad's church where Don Clay was in attendance. It was then that he found out that he was not the only one rapping for Jesus. Their paths would finally cross when a mutual friend gave Easop a demo cd of some of Don's music. Easop was instantly impressed and Don Clay joined Life or Death in 1999. After hooking up with Life or Death Don Clay began producing for the label and traveling becoming exposed to the genre of holy hip-hop. In the year 2000, he began production on his first full length album for the label for a group called, "The End", which he was a member of. While doing production for The End he would also begin working on his first full length cd entitled, "Made Man". He recently mastered his first album "Kingdom Sounds" by Godsend on Zoe 4 Life Records. Don Clay brings a unique and unheard of style to his genre. As an artist his ability to mix contemporary sounds and styles with spiritual truths is that which sets him apart from the rest. As a producer his gift for making music and his desire to put out music that is second to none in quality are just a few of the things that drives him along with his passion to fulfill his purpose and calling in life. He is currently a member at Word of Faith Fellowship under the leadership of pastor Eric Williams. He is the proud father of one son and currently resides in San Francisco, Ca
