Bio
Known for its blues, classic R & B, Motown, jazz, rock and funk, the Don Johnson Project formed during 2004 in central Pennsylvania. Since then, the group has evolved into a powerful mix of solid passionate artists with strong vocals and tight arrangements. After winning local competitions sponsored by the Blues Society of Central Pennsylvania (BSCP), the group participated in the 2008 and 2009 International Blues Challenges (IBCs) in Memphis, Tennessee.
Don Johnson - Don began playing guitar at the age of six. His individual style has been influenced by greats such as Albert King, Buddy Guy, BB King, and Jimi Hendrix. His soulful vocals and creative guitar are being featured in The Tear Jar – An Original Blues Show (www.tearjar.com). This live show opened in theatres in August 2008 and was featured at the World Café Live (XPN) in Philadelphia. Don is also Music Director for a Harrisburg-based gospel group called “Chosen.”
LeRoy Flowers – LeRoy’s career began in the military. This solid bassist has played in the Baltimore/Washington area for over thirty (30) years and continues to excite audiences with his rhythmic sounds.
Doug Hoyle –Doug is the strong and steady heartbeat of the group . His career of forty (40) plus years includes playing with many great musicians including Natalie Cole, James Brown, and KC and the Sunshine Band.
Trixi Greiner – Trixi’s original music showcases her sweet sultry vocals. Her keyboard talent and sensual vocals are a perfect mix. This classically trained musician/composer teaches elementary music and has performed with Burning Bus, Inca Campers, and Matrix. She had the pleasure of opening for the Dave Matthews Band and has been featured on XPN radio.
Mark Focazio - The newest member of the band, Mark adds a fresh sound and youthful spirit. His exceptional guitar mesmerizes audiences.
