Donkey the Lion is the surname under which multi-instrumentalist Kevin Woodruff writes and releases music. “Over the last few years, I just started writing songs. I'd never really written real songs before; something just clicked” says Woodruff, who fumbles for words with excitement over the release of DTL's long awaited debut album. “I'm really proud of what these songs have become, and I'm really eager to finally share them”. The first single from the record, 'A Simple Plea', features Stephan Bayley (City Squirrel) on Moog, starting the track with a punch of warm, analog-goodness. The title of the song takes more meaning with lines like “I'm down on my knees on the floor for you”, accompanied by a pacing acoustic guitar.
Donkey the Lion is a unique breath of fresh air; one which aims to please your ears - maybe your lungs as well?
