Profile
Don Mcleod has had a prolific career as an artist as both a band member and lead vocalist.
He is a self taught guitar player and has taken vocal training from the renowned vocal trainer Judith Rabinovitch who has the esteemed Sarah McLaughlin on her roster.
Among his many accomplishments Don has also won the admiration of judges in band contests for his unique sound and performing presence. Most prominently he took First Place in the 99.3 Fox Demolition Derby and First Place again in the Fox Seeds contest.
He is also an accomplished song writer who for the past 10 years has co-writen with many great writers including; Chin Injeti (Bass is Bass), Trevor Guthrie (Soul decision), Danny Craig (Default), Jeremy Hora (Default), Dale Russell (The Guess Who), Cory Lee (currently Top10 on 94.5 The Beat) and Jake Mathews (top 20 country artist) to name a few. His song writing has also garnered industry recognition with Don taking top honours in the Z95.3 2002 Song-writing contest and second place in the Standard Radio National Song-Writing contest during the same year.
Don has crossed over his song-writing abilities to other mediums for both TV and Movie soundtracks which includes the popular TV series “Highlander”.
As the lead vocalist of three bands in his career; Cripple, Attica and a solo project, Don has shared the stage with many popular bands including Nickelback, Seven Marry Three, and Default. His bands have performed live on stage and TV.
Armed with his experience in the music industry and his exceptional song-writing skills, Don has shared his ability with up-and-coming artists teaching both song-writing and artist development.
Don is currently the president of the B.C. branch for S.A.S.S. Canada; a not-for-profit organization started by friends Dale Russell (the Guess Who) and Artemis. SASS (www.sasscanada.com) is a program that teaches song-writing in schools and has been very successful for 3 years in Ontario.
Don owns and manages a production company that offers production, demo critiquing, song-writing lessons, and co-writing; Playground Productions (www.playgroundproductions.ca).
