Donna Cristy

BandRockPop

Donna Cristy is a singer/songwriter who transcends many styles from rock to r&b, adult contemporary and coutry. Donna is a published songwriter with many film and TV credits to her name along with extensive live performance as a lead vocalist.

Biography

Donna has finished her new CD with her alternative rock band, Hemlok Bay. As a teen, Donna was a rocker; then after signing with various well-known producers who had a different vision than hers, she sang everything from dance/house to r&b. Since her voice adapts to all styles, the switching was easy, although probably not the best idea for her as an artist. "Now that the business has changed and there are so many indie artists, I can do what I want."
Hemlok Bay's new CD is entitled "Just Another Day" where Donna is the principal songwriter and lead vocalist. The music is angry girl rock and the songs "3 Seconds Of Bliss" and "La La La (I Can't Hear You) " blend loops and live instrumentation to create a unique sound to complement Donna's powerful, rangy vocals. The CD is produced by Donna, mixed and mastered by Travis Dickerson in Northridge, CA

Bleed

Written By: donna cristy/greg niemi

BLEED

Verse

It's over now
I'm sorry that I loved you
It was a big mistake
Of course, what else could it be?
Go be that lonely man
Wandering without reason
And play your sad guitar, and hide away your fear

It was a waste of life
Each minute I spent with you
A man who never cared
Whose words would cut me everytime

Chorus

How could you just stand there and watch me BLEED
Without giving any thought to what I might need
And then turn it all around so you're the one who's seeing red
When you're the one who started the war upon our bed

Verse

What kind of love was that?
So naked and exquisite
Yet still the cruelest joke I have ever heard
I got my precious things
You're no longer among them
You ruthless, hurtful man
Who tore my heart from me

Repeat Chorus, Guitar Solo, Repeat Chorus

It's over now
I'm sorry that I loved you
It was a big mistake

Do You Hear Me

Written By: Donna Cristy/Bill Bentley

DO YOU HEAR ME

Verse

I sit and watch you spin your wheels
You don’t communicate how you feel
‘bout me, ‘bout us, ‘bout anything
Yeah- you’re so tiring

You make mistakes, but you never learn
And I long for you while I quietly burn, ‘cause

Chorus

You just do such thoughtless things
No, you never, ever think of me
Spell it out for you how a man should be
DO YOU HEAR, DO YOU HEAR ME
Hey, I’m talkin’ to you, dontcha shut me out, are you listening
DO YOU HEAR, DO YOU HEAR ME

Verse

Wonder what’s inside that head
How many restless nights I wished you were dead
What’s wrong, what’s right, what should be said
Yeah- silence rains instead

I get confused when I feel your touch
How can I love you when I hate you this much, but

Chorus

You just do such thoughtless things
No, you never, ever think of me
Spell it out for you how a man should be
DO YOU HEAR, DO YOU HEAR ME

Bridge

When everyday is another great day where the world revolves around you
And all of those times when you put me first are far between and few
You make me feel useless like I really don’t matter and I know that none of that’s true
Still you don’t see me breaking free
What does that say about me

Repeat Chorus

Why do you do such thoughtless things
Why don’t you ever, ever think of me
I’ve spelled it out for you how a man oughta be
DO YOU HEAR, DO YOU HEAR ME

You lack sensitivity
No, you never even look at me
When I question you where’s this all gonna lead
DO YOU HEAR, DO YOU HEAR ME
Hey- I’m talking to you, dontcha shut me out, are you listening
I’m waitin’ on you, better turn around, answer me
DO YOU HEAR, DO YOU HEAR ME
DO YOU HEAR, DO YOU HEAR ME

Memphis To L.A.

Written By: Donna Cristy

MEMPHIS TO L.A.

VERSE

Did you know it was me, before we got on that flight
Been so many years, I look different, no I didn't notice you, I guess I was preoccupied
You're the last one I'd expect, because I'd tucked you away
With all the foolish little girl dreams that never did happen, that seem so passe

PRE-CHORUS

Well, you're friends were having a real good time
Who's that hot chick who's standing in line
Well it was only me unaware this time of you
Didn't know what to do

CHORUS

I lost my chance that day, flying MEMPHIS TO L.A.
Of all the places you could be
So close to me, I felt you breathe, but I could not
Even catch my breath or even think of
One single word to say
I let you fly-away

VERSE

So what the hell did I do, walked to the back of the plane
Had you captive for 3 hours, I froze like a statue, my friends said I must be insane
No- you did not approach me, though you walked by me once
Guess you don't know the things that I do, you chose someone else, didn't know I was the one

PRECHORUS

And I sat there silent like the idiot I'd become
You rendered me speechless, you rendered me numb
Before this I'd been proud of how far I'd come to forget you
Didn't know what to do-

CHORUS

BRIDGE

I looked into your eyes for what seemed an eternity
Till you looked away, now you're probably scared of me
But I'm not a psycho bitch, I'm just a casualty
Of my life without you, I know we were meant to be
But you don't know, or you don't seem to care at all
You're always depressed, always down, though you got it all
While I'm just a mess who broke down in the face of it all
I lost my chance, lost my chance, I lost my...

CHORUS 2X

VERSE

Did you know it was me, before we got on that flight
Do you wonder why I keep on surfacing, wandering in and out of your life

IN FRONT OF YOU

Written By: DONNA CRISTY/BILL BENTLEY

IN FRONT OF YOU

Verse

You tell me that you been waiting for your life to begin
But one day you turned around just to see it’d already begun
And all that anticipating of that race you didn’t win
Has pulled you down in the deepest of dark and now you’re no fun

What’s the use in looking back, can you make some sense of that
Everybody’s got something they wish they could change
While you’re swimming in regret, complaining what you didn’t get
You’re missing you cue, happy moments are few, so

Chorus

Turn your face up to the sky, let the rain rain down upon you
Open up your eyes and see the truth
Gather up those minutes, take your dreams out of your closet
Your life is right IN FRONT OF YOU

Verse

Gotta hit the ground running, no time for dragging my feet
When there’s so much that I gotta do that I’ll never get done
Worry what I’m becoming, cuz I got no time to eat
Can’t make it home, fall asleep in my car and bake in the sun

Wonder where I’m gonna land, I think I can, I think I can
Pull it all together and still come out sane
Everything is closing in, I’m overwhelmed and I’m done in
This face in the crowd will be living out loud, so

Repeat Chorus

Breakdown

What’s the use in looking back
Can you make some sense of that
Everything is closing in
You’re overwhelmed and you’re done in
Your life is right In Front Of You

Repeat Chorus

S-e-x

Written By: Donna Cristy

S-E-X

VERSE

There you are again, another man with no game
Another social misfit wants to know my name
I’ve always known men only want one thing
And I am not opposed as long as I pull the strings

PRE-CHORUS

First the emails, meet for coffee
Out to dinner, get your hands off me

CHORUS

I know what you want, know what you want
Know what you’re looking for
I know what you’re thinking
Gotta have S-E-X
I think you should beg, should buy me jewelry
Get me a limousine
Without a trip to Cancun, ain’t gon’ get
S-E-X

VERSE

Dontcha see what you’re looking at when you look at me
A girl who is this hot don’t fall in love for free
And you don’t seem to get that you’re way outta your league
Keep on blowin’ smoke, then I’ll get up and leave

PRE-CHORUS

Light the candles, shut your phone off
Wine is flowing, you’re turned on, won’t stop

CHORUS

Without a house in Bel Air, ain’t gon’ get

DOUBLE PRE-CHORUS

First the emails, meet for coffee
Out to dinner, get your hands off me
Light the candles, rip my clothes off
Wine is endless, you’re turned on, won’t stop

CHORUS

Without a week at the spa, ain’t gon’ get
Without some French champagne, ain’t gon’ get

Chorus, ad lib

Wet

Written By: Donna Cristy/William Messner

WET

Uh, come on, get up (4x)

Chorus

Dontcha keep me waiting
Did you already forget
There’s a line leading to my bed
Not the only one who makes me WET

That’s the way I play it
I don’t mean no disrespect
Now, move a little to the left
If you really wanna get me WET

VERSE

It ain’t that hard, baby
It ain’t that rough
You gotta start if you
Gon’ get me off
I don’t mind teachin’
When they look like you
My naughty schoolboys do what I tell them to

You’re a lucky man tonight
To have a freak like me
And if you work those hands just right
Think of the possibilities
When you only aim to please
(REPEAT CHORUS)

VERSE

Ain’t rocket science, baby
Don’t think too much
Wastin’ my time don’t get me
Hot and worked up
No, I ain’t testin’ your IQ
Your disobedience ain’t working for you

You’re a lucky man tonight
I let you get with me
Must have been my oversight
When all the other men I see
Are all meeting my needs

(REPEAT CHORUS)

Uh, come on, get up (4x)

Move a little to the left (dontcha keep me waiting) 4X

(REPEAT CHORUS)

Boyz

Written By: Donna Cristy/Dennis Logan

BOYZ

VERSE

Yeah Yeah, yeah yeah- Doooo

I can’t get my mind off of BOYZ
And I really don’t want to
So many questions about BOYZ
And I don’t have the answers

Do they like me for myself, should I be somebody else
What are they thinking when they look at me
Do they know how much I want them

VERSE

And now my parents have no choice
They don’t know how to stop me
From running after all these BOYZ
I’m making them crazy
They got a little bit annoyed
When they saw my last report card

I don’t want to hear them out, they don’t know what I’m about
Why should I listen to these ancient ruins
They’re just trying to ruin me

VERSE

That guy in homeroom’s kind of cute
He’s got a sweet haircut
The geek in science would be cool
If he could lose his glasses

So what if I am obsessed, haven’t done a bad thing yet
I’m only thinking-
Ooh- What am I thinking, yeah yeah
I don’t have the answers, yeah yeah
Ooh- I’m making them crazy when

BRIDGE

All I think about is BOYZ
I just wanna be with BOYZ
When I’m texting it’s to BOYZ
Do the math, it equals BOYZ
When I cry it’s over BOYZ
I dress to impress the BOYZ
Might be failing coz of - BOYZ

VERSE

Gonna meet him after school
Somewhere by the bleachers
Afraid I won’t know what to do
Or get caught by my teacher

I don’t wanna go too far, should keep things the way they are
Might not be ready, could I tell him “no”
When I really don’t want to- No, I really don’t want to

VERSE

Could get in trouble with these BOYZ
Ooh-what am I thinking, yeah yeah, yeah yeah
To solve the mystery of BOYZ
I don’t have the answers, yeah yeah, yeah yeah
Wish I could handle all these BOYZ
It’s making me crazy, so
I’ll just dream about them

Who Invented Seventeen

Written By: Donna Cristy/Dennis Logan

WHO INVENTED SEVENTEEN

Verse

You- don’t know that I exist
Don’t know the half of it
Don’t know I dream of you
Don’t dreams have better things to do and

I- just wanna hear my name
Said in that lazy way
That only you can say
Yeah, that’d really make my day, but

Chorus

I’m too tall, too awkward
I’m too shy, too backward
Not the girl who gets the captain of the football team
Not the one elected homecomin’ queen

On the outside, never
On the inside, wondrin’
Where’s the famous, infamous director of this scene
Wanna know WHO INVENTED SEVENTEEN

Verse

I’m- just going through a stage
That’s what my parents say
Be beautiful one day
I think they’d love me anyway, but

You- love little girls like her
Hangs on your every word
What guys like you prefer
Is everything I wish I were, but

Chorus

I’m too tall, too awkward
I’m too shy, too backward
Not the empty girl who’s got the lowest self-esteem
Just the one who lingers somewhere in-between

On the outside, never
On the inside, wondrin’
When I’ll have a day that doesn’t wanna make me scream
Wanna know WHO INVENTED SEVENTEEN

Bridge

Tomorrow there might be a change in me
Look in the mirror, I’ll be liking what I see
As the days, the weeks, the months go by
I’m not invisible, there’s a reason why
The promise rang true, I’m next to

Verse

You- ask me where I’ve been
Yeah, thanks for noticin’
You smile your crooked grin
But you’re no longer beneath my skin, ‘cause

Chorus

I’m so tall, so graceful
I’m not shy, not backward
I don’t care if you’re the captain of the football team
It’s so lame to be homecomin’ queen

On the inside, never
On the outside, wondrin’
Why nobody told me things ain’t always what they seem
Wanna thank WHO INVENTED SEVENTEEN

Ah, oh, ooh….WHO INVENTED SEVENTEEN

Start to Believe

Written By: Donna Cristy/William Messner

Start To Believe

VERSE

It seems so brand new, but
I’m just a best friend to you like I’ve always been
S’what I’m figurin’

And you go on and on,
About whatever went wrong with the two of you
Here’s what I wanna do

CHORUS

I wanna love you any way I can
I know when I’m looking at the perfect man
Even if you don’t see it
Gonna make you believe it
I’m gonna give you everything she didn’t
For now I know I gotta keep my feelings hidden
Change the way that you see me
Then you’ll START TO BELIEVE

VERSE

And it might be too soon
You haven’t healed from that wound that she left you with
Still you make the best of it

And I’m trying to go slow
The only way that I know
I’m not a patient one
I wanna get this done

CHORUS

BRIDGE

There could be someone else
Who’d never drain your life
Who’d never drag you through that drama
Never criticize
Well, you’ve seen the very best
And the very worst of me
Now the one thing I got left
Is to start you to believe
