23 November 2007 DON SHORTSLEF

Stirring devotion energizes Don’s likeable balladeering style. It resides in temperate environment amid generally light acoustic-country backdrop with an occasional visit to more lively electric-sound territory. His convincing vocal stance, suggestion and sincerity shapes a pulpit role that one senses that he does not take lightly. Nashville recorded (with the cream of the cream), this set is a plentifully warm, appealing sound that captures attention immediately in a clean, clear, direct, and honest package. Riding high in the NCM Euro Chart recently with single songs, this new CD is past due and very welcome. Aptly packaged and titled, it is obvious that this praise-project album is a labour-of-love and is highly enticing in content, particularly Don's brother, Dennis' songs.

Don released two singles in 2007. Both singles, "A Vision Of The Cross "(written by Sandy Bond) and "Two Thousand Years Ago" (written by Jesse McReynolds) were released on New Christian Music (NCM) in Europe. Both charted in the Top 10 on Euro Chart and Euro Country Chart in 2007.

Don Shortslef grew up in a home filled with music. He began singing and playing the piano at a young age. When Don was just 15 he gave his heart to the Lord and knew then that someday he wanted to use music to help spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For twelve years, with his brother Dennis, Don ministered in music to a variety of Christian Churches across the country. Each of the brothers received a number of Christian Country Music awards and both were featured on the International Christian Satellite TV Program, 3ABN Presents (Three Angels Broadcasting Network). In 1998, Don was named National Male Vocalist of the Year by the Country Gospel Music Association (CGMA). Don can currently be heard on Christian Radio programs across the U.S., Canada and Europe. Recently, Don has ventured out on his own. His latest CD, “Here I Am”, is a compilation of several original songs written by his brother, Dennis, one of Don's own songs, a couple of bluegrass gospel favorites and a couple of classic hymns. Don also recorded the album, "When I Sing For Him," in 2006 which features his dad, (Harold ‘Chub’ Shortslef) on the pedal steel guitar. As of October 2007, both of Don's singles, A Vision Of The Cross, and Two Thousand Years Ago, have reached the top 10 on the New Christian Music (NCM) Euro Country Chart in England. To date, Don has recorded six CD albums—three of which were recorded with his brother, Dennis. Don’s musical style includes a blend of Christian Country, Country Gospel and Contemporary Christian. In addition to his newest release, “Here I Am," his solo CDs also include the 2005 Christmas Album, “O Holy Night”.
