Bio
Doombunny are an American rock quartet based out of Chapel Hill, North Carolina formed in February of 2008. The members are Kelly Bridgers, vocals and lead guitar; Leon Monroe, vocals, bass, and rhythm guitar; Chuck Morton, vocals, keyboards, and organ; and Mondo, drums.
Kelly and Leon were also founding members of Chapel Hill group The Hurt, along with Kelly’s brother Keith Bridgers on bass and drummer Phil Mauck. After The Hurt dissolved in 2006, Kelly and Keith formed The Twice Told with singer/songwriter Brian Probus and drummer Michael Hayden, formerly of the Austin, TX band Echoset. Kelly also has a self-titled solo project that has been ongoing for years. His first solo album, When The Cat Ate The Canary was released in 2008.
Chuck Morton is a founding member of the Chapel Hill-based group Pole Barn Poets. They have a self-released album, Broadside.
Mondo has been drumming for years and years, and has played with too many bands to count.
Kelly and Leon joined forces again in early 2008, and took on Chuck and Mondo to form Doombunny. Self-described as “old indie meets new indie”, Doombunny takes elements from The Cure, Doves, Leonard Cohen, Spoon, of Montreal, and many others. They are in the process of recording their debut album at Overdub Lane in Durham N.C. with John Plymale engineering. Plymale also engineered The Hurt’s 2005 EP, Perils, and The Twice Told’s single, “Push”, which was selected as one of the best tracks of 2006 by UK Podcaster Jozek.
