Meet Jo'zzy: Timbaland's latest secret weapon.
Paying dues in the music industry over the past couple of years, this under-the-radar songwriter has worked with artists like Missy Elliot, Beyoncé and Teyana Taylor, before she gained the official stamp last summer from the futurist beatmaking guru. Now, the Memphis-bred newcomer lands the veteran cosign on her latest single "Tryna Wife" featuring Timbaland and Harlem's own, Mason Betha. Produced by Timbaland's protege, Wizz Dumb, the self-proclaimed "singer disguised as a rapper" uses her signature mid-temp '90s throwback vocals to craft an anthem suitable for all the independent women.
With Timb's adlibs, Wizz Dumb's knocking production, and Ma$e's bouncy cameo, the summertime track puts Jo'zzy right in the middle of hip-hop and retro R&B territory.

Directed by hip-hop's favorite music videographer, Eif Rivera—who recently shot Puff Daddy's "I Want The Love"—the nostalgic '90s-inspired video bridges the knock-out collaboration with cameos from the Dumb Drumbs team and music mentor Timbaland.

Bio
Memphis native Jo’zzy grew up immersed in music. With her mother a part of Willie Mitchell's famed Hi Records, her mom was a solo recording artist herself and raised Jo’zzy surrounded by music and creativity. At the age of 5, Jo’zzy's older brother, an aspiring rapper, was sent to prison. The sudden void became a source of inspiration, as she found many of his cassettes. Over the years Jo’zzy's brother, John, encouraging her to explore her love of different styles of music in her own original manner. Jo’zzy eventually left her hometown of Memphis and moved to Miami, Florida to partner with super producer Timbaland’s protégé, Wizz Dumb and DUMB DRUMBS productions as a songwriter. Jo’zzy hit the ground running, writing for artists such as Teyana Taylor, Monica, Dancing With The Stars’ Mark Ballas, and penning the first single for Sony Red recording artist Agnez Mo, titled “Coke Bottle” feat. Timbaland and T.I. Also, Jo’zzy worked with Beyonce on a track titled “I Been On”. A pivotal moment in her career quickly came when singer/songwriter/producer Missy Elliot reached out in admiration of Jo’zzy style and tone. “Missy was the real reason for me wanting to pursue my career as an artist,” Jo’zzy recalls. Fast forward to 2014 which brought even more good news, as Jo’zzy was officially signed to BMG Records and was given the green light for her first single, “Tryna Wife” produced by Wizz Dumb Feat. Timbaland. The hype around the artist and her nostalgic 90’s sound and look quickly reached the ears of hip hop legend Mase, eventually leading to their collaboration. Recently she dropped her EP entitled, "Twenty 90s Too", which has continued to push the boundaries in music.
