"Dorkweed"

Power pop gets a bad rep, probably because most of the music it's attached to is all pop with very little power. That's definitely not the case with Dorkweed, who are celebrating the release of their fine new album Sometimes Animals Die tonight at the Sunset. Dorkweed are power pop with balls. And bite. And, um, creamed corn? As the name (and the song about creamed corn) suggests, Dorkweed have a slightly skewed view on life and how to react to it--which makes their highly infectious songs that much more satisfying to sing along to. And you will. - The Stranger

"Rolling Stone.com"

Dorkweed plays distinctive, original, alternative tracks. From the upbeat "Suck my Face" to husky voice "wild cat" and to teh alternative "train conductor", Dorkweed goes through a wide expanse of musical styles - rolling stone.com

"The stranger"

".. a dynamic collection of bright, smart, humor-injected pop songs that seem to be influenced by an array of musicians as diverse as the Pixies, the President and Davis Bowie..." - the stranger

"Pandomag.com"

"like bitter, experimental pills that Amacher and co-producer Jeff Saltzman (Sunset Valley) have sugar- coated, My Motor's ten addictive tracks will have even the most mainstream of listeners gulping them down...Full of simmering anger and turmoil that's tempered only by Amcher's off-beat, contemplative wit, this is a strangely beautiful album..." - pandomag.com

"The Stranger"

"This is the new crap" contains evidence of what makes Dorkweed interesting...this is a pretty clever group of people who know how to write hooks. - The Stranger

"Seattle Weekly"

"...These prolific Seattleites dunk power pop in the backwater and wring out some awfully adventurous...sludge rock" - Seattle Weekly

"Seattle Weekly"

"... is ther solid rock core beneath garden of quirks? A scan of the creative sampling and molten riffs saturating their latest LP, Fluxivity Test Project, indicates "HELL, YES" - Seattle Weekly

Bio

Dorkweed is an indie rock band from Seattle. Originally from Oklahoma City and a member of a scene that included The Flaming Lips and The Chainsaw Kittens, Brent Amacher relocated to Seattle in 1998 and created Dorkweed. The project has evolved to include four other members hailing from leading musical cities such as Seattle, Memphis, and Brooklyn. Members formerly played in other well-known Seattle bands The Tremens and PeterParker.

Dorkweed creates emotional and hard-edged, catchy rock/pop simmering with genuine indie inventiveness. The band experiments with aggressive guitar, hooky riffs, dual drummer action, introspective themes, and distinctive vocal energy and harmonies. Comparisons have included The Pixies, The Flaming Lips, Violent Femmes, Weezer, Camper Van Beethoven, and Bowie.
