Dorothy Valentine

Dorothy Valentine writes from the heart. "I never knew I'd be a songwriter as a little girl, but I always knew that my passion was music." She says. Teaming up with producer Mario Marchetti, she is currently recording her first full album in Los Angeles, CA. A native of San Diego, it is easy to see how the sunshine and sweet weather influenced her sound. "Most of my songs are about love. Everything I'm about certainly seems to be. It's what comes from inside me, I follow my intuition as I write. Moving from San Diego to L.A. was very life changing, even though it was only two hours away. What I went through in that town really shaped me as a person. I had some pretty rough experiences that lent themselves as fuel to my fire." Coming from an abusive marriage of three years, she makes it a point to speak out against domestic violence. "I got married too young, and was not a good judge of character at the time. I look back on that now and thankfully realize who I was with is not the type of person I want to be. Everyone should be treated as a human being, and as a precious soul." It's fair to say Valentine is influenced by many greats such as Michael Jackson, Maria Callas, Elton John, and Whitney Houston to name a few, but also the world around her. "I am very inspired by fairytales, Disney movies, holidays, and things with fantasy elements to them. Also, you may not think it but I love heavy metal." With 90's singer/songwriter flair, passionate ballads, and uptempo pop songs, Dorothy Valentine's music is sure to lift your spirit.
