Bio

"So what then, is a Silvero?" asked the interviewer. The three bands members were silhouetted against the open window in the fading light. An open bottle of whiskey (and no glasses) sat on the table, adding to the uneasy sense of expectation.
Scott spoke first, bringing his fist down hard on the table. "A Silvero is first and foremost proud and unafraid; adventurous, creative and sensual...."
"Actually 'Silvero' doesn't mean anything," said Joe the drummer, cutting off his bandmate. "At the most, you might say, Dos Siveros could mean two silver things, in Spanglish. Could somebody turn on a light?"

******************************

Ah, well...
While it is a fairly new performing band, Dos Silveros had its genesis in 2002 as The Silveros, with founding member Scott Morrison, guitarist Brad Quinn (a former bandmate of Dan Bajar, of Destoyer and The New Pornograhers), and for the briefest time, drummer Sebastian Grainger, before the advent of Death From Above 1979. (Brad Quinn has returned to Vancouver, and is currently in The Precious Fathers).
Since then Scott has refined the songs and sounds as the sole original member, and with new additions, the band began playing at venues around Toronto in 2005, including the Cameron House, The Drake, Holy Joe's, and Sneaky Dee's (with The Diableros and California's The Jim Yoshii Pile-Up). They have gotten a good audience reaction at their shows, with usually passive Torontonians sometimes dancing manically in front of the stage.
The line up consists of bassist and singer Scott Morrison, a highly-educated office clerk in the sophisticated world of office temping, drummer Joe Ramisola, who recently left a dodgy job in the, ahem, "moving industry", to go to the school of Mad Chefs, and guitarist Kevin Wong, who spends his days, apparently, as a marketer for an internet casino. None of the members has spent time in jail.
The band is currently managed by Sheldon Robertson, who will be featured as one of the eccentric participants in Debbie Travis's upcoming home renovation reality show in June.
The band is currently recording a demo at Scott's digital studio, and plans to finish writing new songs and resume performing soon. The music is highly-melodic with a pop focus, a lot of it rocks, most of it is fun, but often comes with a little stab of melancholy. A lot of the lyrics deal with trying to figure out "interpersonal relationships" and life in general.
Their creative goal is to make and perform compelling original music that people want to listen to (and hopefully dance to). The band plans to both pursue a record deal with the recording, and release it with the aim of getting airplay and generating press. The band is definately serious about Dos Silveros, although it has to be said they are also sometimes seriously goofy.
