Double R

Double R 2012 Teen Artist Of The Year was born as Robert Carter Jr. He was born in Far Rockaway, NY on September 5th 2000. His Father Robert Carter Sr. a former Hip Hop Artist himself plays a big part in Double R’s career. Robert Carter Sr. not only introduced him to music but also influenced his music career.

Double R’s Father Robert Carter Sr. was known back in the day as MC Carter D. He was a Hip Hop solo Rapper that performed in Harlem World, Roxys and the Fever with other Artist’s like Cold Crush Brothers, Kurtis Blow, Biz markie and Bizzy B Starsky so it was inevitable that Double R would follow his footsteps.

Double R first performed at a family Barbeques, then at Ajax Park in Jamaica Queens with his label mates and it was go since then. At age 7 while in his father’s studio Double R was noticed catching on and repeating other Artists lyrics verbatim. He even memorized their lyrics before they did and eventually he was standing in for Artists if they were not present for rehearsals.

Double R has been performing since he was 9 years old. Double R’s first song was “FP Stomp” and he performed in Lorick Park in Columbia SC. Since then he has performed all around the country. When Double R was asked “What makes you different?” He was quoted as saying “I give them an old school mix with a new school flow.” He was also quoted as saying “I love to perform. I would love to perform on 106 and park.”

Double R is a focused and genuine person. He knows what he wants and is not afraid to go after it. Double R writes his own lyrics and for him sky is the limit. After being asked “Who would you like to perform with? He answered “I would like to perform with Willow Smith, Jay Z, Justin Beiber, Chris Brown, Rakim and my friend Lil Deuce. Now living in Columbia SC this young inspiring Hip Hop Artist is lighting up stages and is in rotation with his fresh new face and his old school sound.
