Doug Bidwell

Doug Bidwell

BandPopAcoustic

Doug is an excellent vocalist, guitar player and songwriter with a large cover repertoire in addition to his originals. His performance is strictly amplified acoustic. Doug has great presence and a quick mind for good interaction. Doug is also the lead in his duo called Double Down.

Biography

Doug was introduced to the guitar at the age of eight by "Auntie Dot", his foster mother for three years. After those early lessons, he just continued to teach himself. Although he never got to know him well, Doug attributes his musical talent to his father, a ragtime piano player and singer who traveled mostly the Connecticut circuit. Doug is a "die hard" Beatles fan and was greatly influenced by music of the 60s and 70s. His original songs are primarily about relationships, some with serious introspection and others with a more light-hearted upbeat view.

Doug currently plays mostly Anna Maria Island and local venues in the Bradenton, Florida area. His all original first CD, Living In Denial, was recorded by Bill Blue of Liberty Guitars and Songwriters Workshop in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Although Doug is usually well booked in the area for the "season", he is looking for additional venues for the late Spring and Summer and is particularly interested in opportunities in South Florida and the Florida Keys. Doug can be reached at 941-543-7046.

Lyrics

Living In Denial

Written By: Doug Bidwell

Denial, love has blinded you.
Denial, I can see right through
your denial.

There you go again,
Saving me from pain,
Even though we disagree
time and time again.
Here I go again,
Living in a dream,
Thinking that forever is
exactly what it is.

You gotta let me leave
you with a smile,
Knowing I'll forever be
living in denial.
You gotta let me go
on thinking you
could never live without
the funny things I do.
You gotta let me leave,
you gotta let me go.

Denial, love has blinded you.
Denial, I can see right through
your denial.

Here we go again,
Playing the same song,
Even though the sound is sweet,
The harmony is wrong.

You gotta let me leave
you with a smile,
Knowing I'll forever be
living in denial.
You gotta let me go
on thinking you
could never live without
the funny things I do.
You gotta let me leave,
You gotta let me go.

No matter how hard it is,
No matter how tough it is to take,
No matter how bad you want it,
You're gonna have to face up to your mistake.
I'm only trying to make things better,
I'm only trying to help you see things straight,
I'm only trying to shake your shoulders,
And let you know that it's time for you to wake.
The dream is over,
It's time for you to wake.

Denial, love has blinded you.
Denial, I can see right through
your denial.

Somethin's Cookin'

Written By: Doug Bidwell

Don’t look now but somethin’s cookin’.
A girl walks in, she’s damn good lookin’.
Every guy’s stayin’ that was thinkin’ ‘bout bookin’,
and don’t look now but somethin’s cookin’.

She hits the bar there’s three drinks waitin’.
One guy’s frozen stiff the other’s salivatin’.
The third guy studies every move that she’s makin’,
and don’t look now but all hearts are breakin’.

She’s oh so hot, she’d even make the devil drop
from overheatin’.
She’s oh so good, good to the very last drop.
She’ll make a healthy heart stop
b-b-b-beatin’.

She moves to the dance floor, ready and rarin’.
Swingin’ that tight little dress she’s wearin’.
Accentuatin’ every move her body is barin’,
and don’t look now but all eyes are starin’.

Out from the crowd steps a designated player.
Smooth operator, a real lady sawyer.
He swears he’s gonna get her even if he has to pay her,
and don’t look now but she’s not there.

She’s oh so hot, she’d even make the devil drop
from overheatin’.
She’s oh so good, good to the very last drop.
She’ll make a healthy heart stop
b-b-b-beatin’.

Don’t look now but somethin’s cookin’.
A girl walks in, she’s damn good lookin’.
Every guy’s stayin’ that was thinkin’ ‘bout bookin’,
and don’t look now but somethin’s cookin’.

She’s oh so hot, she’d even make the devil drop
from overheatin’,
She’s oh so good, good to the very last drop.
She’ll make a healthy heart stop
b-b-b-beatin’.

Don’t look now but somethin’s cookin’.
A guy walks in, he’s damn good lookin’.
Every girl’s stayin’ that was thinkin’ ‘bout bookin’,
and don’t look now but somethin’s cookin’.

Best Friend

Written By: Doug Bidwell

Who do I turn to when I've been dumb?
Who won't laugh when I'm a fool?
Who can I depend on
when no one else,
No one else will come?

It's my friend,
My best friend.

Who can I brag to when I've done good?
Who do I want to share my fun?
Who can I believe in?
You're the only,
You're the only one.

'Cause you're my friend,
My best friend.

A friend is someone who hangs around
when there ain't nothing to do.
A friend is someone who can't be found
until you need them to.

Who will forgive me when I've been wrong?
Lord knows I've been wrong a ton.
Who will sit and listen to all my songs,
Till all my songs are done?

It's my friend,
My best friend.

A friend is someone you want to tell
all your troubles to.
A friend is someone who only sees
the good inside of you.

Who do I turn to when I've been wrong?
Lord knows I've been wrong a ton.
Who will sit and listen to all my songs,
Till all my songs are done?

It's my friend,
My best friend.
