Feeling a bit camera shy

Straight shooting realism combined with a strong sense of story line sums up Doug Glenn ’s songwriting style. A fourth generation railway worker with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honors Degree and Music Minor from the University of Manitoba, Doug stirs all into the mix. Throughout the years Doug has performed many festivals, concerts and been a member of the Celtic duo Tarry Trousers. As a soloist Doug has opened for American acoustic guitarist Leo Kottke at the West End Cultural Centre and performed the Dauphin Country Festival. As a roots writer, influences are drawn from country, folk and blues genres.

Doug 's compositions and songs have been played and featured on CBC Radio. Of his solo guitar work, Uptown Magazine wrote, “absolutely exquisite.” While Doug’s music incorporates sweeping melodies with harmonically fluid textures, his lyrics are story based evoking character and place. From poignant tales to hauntingly beautiful melodies, Doug ’s songs and instrumental compositions paint a modern musical picture coloured with tradition.
