Bio

Dubbed as Chicago's next big thing, Doughboy has been at it for a while now. Unlike other dough boys in the game, he didn’t choose the performance moniker to embellish his status. This name was given to him as an infant due to his incredible resemblance to the lovable Poppin’ Fresh character. Once a street corner emcee, he’s now a veteran; Doughboy has mesmerized crowds both large and small, including at South Suburban College, Xippo‘s and the Marquis Room.

Since founding the crew 1500's in 1996 with former schoolmates Lupe Fiasco, Napo, and Bishop G, Dough has been through his share of ups and downs. Dough found himself sleeping on the street with garbage bags of his clothes and hygiene necessities when he was put out of his mother’s home and then the homes of friends and relatives when he wore out his welcome. Having to resort to crime to stay above water, he has luckily managed to avoid the long arm of the law. From hustling and getting money, to being broke and jobless and back again, Dough found out the hard way that the streets that the streets are a dead end road to prison and death. Dough has seen his friends, family, and role models murdered, incarcerated, or bound by addiction to drugs. On August 1, 1998, his cousin and best friend, Diamond ''BeBe'' Henson was mysteriously killed in a still unexplained incident.

‘Dough says, “I feel blessed because certain situations and happenings could’ve had me locked up for a long, long time or cost me my life.‘’ ’’Nobody ever snitched on me though I had some close calls, so I feel I should utilize the talent that GOD gave me to make something out of my life before my luck runs out!’’

Now better and stronger than ever, he is primed for the big time. After the 1500 crew went their separate ways, Dough like his friend Fiasco, decided not only to embark on a solo career, but start his own label. Named 1500 Entertainment, Doughboy chose to pay homage to his humble beginnings and name it after his original crew. Seeing potential in his running mates, Hitman, QP, and Trigga Gunnz, Dough recruited them to join his label roster. Through his younger brother, he hooked up with producer and budding emcee Rob Dutch, putting the most important piece to any team, fitting production. New alliances with other talented producers such as K-Boogie, Mulato Patriot, & Korveil (Kwiky) and a strong management team, Whats Da Bizniz, has prepared Doughboy for stardom, in both “music” and “business”. Now with Vol. 2 of his Golden Mic Mixtape series, in addition to a slew of albums on deck, Dough is ready to conquer. Coming soon to a city near you!
